Rooms look old and need updating. Only 4 channels on the TV and the TV itself was a really old model, no chance of casting to it to cover for the lack of channels.
When we arrived at 3.45pm we were told that in no uncertain terms that check in time was 4. There were loads of people around reception waiting for their room to be ready.
Breakfast was generally a poor experience. On the first morning we waited 20 minutes to get the food after ordering it. We ordered more toast, waited 10 minutes and it never arrived. The third morning the food arrived cold.
We also had dinner 1 night and the food was nice and arrived quite quickly however when we asked for a glass of wine whilst eating, we had to ask 3 times where the wine was.
Apart from the receptionist on the first day, all the staff were very friendly and I thought all areas of the hotel were kept very clean.
Only thing in these Covid times was that none of the bins had foot pedals to open them.
I've been to many country side hotels in Ireland, and many are run down or old. You can see they were great a decade or two ago. This one is NOT one of them. Very well maintained, clean and organised.
Staff was really friendly and service-minded.
We ate at the restaurant and food was great and well worth the price. Nice pub too with some really good live music in the evening.
Day after we enjoyed the spa area. Nice area and no kids allowed (which was a positive for us)
The only complaint I would have is that everything was a bit to cold. The pool was not the temperature I would expect for a 'Thermal Suite', was about 20-25 maybe.
The Sauna and the Steam room were also both much colder than expected. It's not really a Sauna if it's 40-50 degrees.

Romms were very big and spacious. Beautiful scenery on the doorstep.
Disappointed by the Hiden charge for use of the leisure facilities! This was not clear from hotels.com website on booking. In the hotel when checking out the lady at reception seemed quite nonchalence about my comment and suggested I emailed the hotel about it...she said it was clear on their own website but I personally would not have known to even book the hot without hotels.com. I think €149 for a night's b&b would be acceptable to pay including use of the pool...but to charge an additional €10 each for use of the pool is robbery!
The hotel is nicely decorated & the beds very comfortable. The shower curtain in the bathroom is dated & not acceptable, in this day and age I would expect a shower screen over the bath. The towels were tired and had lots of pulls & threads hanging from it.
The breakfast was ok - standard Irish breakfast.
We had a terrific stay. There were a couple of minor glitches:we were allocated an accessible room, which we had not ordered(which meant that the bathroom was not what we wanted),and the leisure club pool did not open until 10:00 and closed to kids at 18:00,which did not please our 10 year old. However the staff were excellent and the food was outstanding. The chowder is the best I have ever tasted anywhere. We would definitely recommend this hotel as a base to explore a beautiful part of Donegal.
Decor was nice in reception area. Bar food good for adults, poor section for children-chips & more chips!!! Accommodation wasn’t great-our bathroom was damp & had rotten wood in it, damp ceilings in bedroom too, so smelt a lot. Swimming pool isn’t like web pictures - too shallow & short. No kids allowed before 11 or after 6 which is unfair seen as your in the middle of nowhere.
Nothing in Gweedore so must have own transport, to get to Donegal town is over an hour & much the same to Letterkenny. Has magnificent views of Errigal mountain which is amazing 😉
Overall the hotel was nice except for our bathroom.

Hotel claims to be a 4 star hotel, but lads that's stretching it a bit. What we found was the little things that make a hotel great were missing.Silly stuff like biscuits with the tea or coffee in the room, bottles of water, even the batteries in the remote for the TV were dead.
Rooms were fine (maybe the decor could do with a bit of brightening up). The staff were excellent and the food was very tasty, but as I've said it was just the little things (added together) that in our opinion just keep it at 3 star level.
staff were brilliant, but had a nice spacious suite room made unpleasant by audible road noise and air conditioning unit and a room temp that was too hot.
Also a very good bar and restaurant with well made food, but then strangely average buffet style breakfast.
Very nice overall and well located, but at the price point wouldn't have expected some of the minor issues above.
The hotel is lovely, reception staff, housekeeping staff & dining room staff all very friendly & helpful. Bar service on Easter Sunday left a lot to be desired. I think some of the people who should've been in the bar were seconded to Sunday Lunch in the dining room & there was 2 lads in the bar who hadn't a clue how to manage a queue or notice who was next to be served.
I was also disappointed with the spa. There is a charge of 10 Euro for guests to access the spa & it is not worth it.
No Wi-Fi in rooms. Seen third world countries with better Wi-Fi
No hdmi input on televisions. 18 year old TVs
Swimming pool close at 5 pm ????
Rooms not hoovered. Found rubbish from previous guest.
Very nice hotel and friendly staff. We stayed two nights .Friday and Saturday On checking in on Friday night the receptionist told us it was advisable to book a table in dinning room to avoid disappointment so we booked a table for Saturday night and had the bar food Friday night and it was passable for bar food. However the Dinner menu in the dinning room Saturday night was exactly the same as bar food menu that we had previous night which was a bit of a let down .
