The good: The facilities were great, the room was wonderful, and the breakfast was good. The pool and workout facilities were really nice.
The bad: The service was mediocre, some cleanliness issues.
We stayed two nights. The first night we ate some fruit in our room, and the dirty plates were never taken from our room.
During our stay we had a friend come to visit us. We wanted to relax in the lobby/bar (which was completely emptyexcept for the three servers) while we waited for our friend to arrive, but a hostess directed us to a crowded area on the side of the lobby to wait.
Checkout was painful. We had a friend with us that spoke Chinese and the hostess kept speaking to her about some issues with the checkout. I asked multuple times for her to stop speaking to our friend (who had nothing to do with our stay at the hotel, and who we did not want involved in the finances of the stay) but the hostess told me that she did not speak English. I can understand that a hostess may not be comfortable using English, but the hotel needs to provide for international guests if they want to be an upscale, international hotel.
We usually stay at the Shangri-la. Based on our overall experience, I would say that the Shangri-la usually provides a better stay, at a better price.
