Star Holiday, wrong location.
This is a lovely guesthouse with a clean pool. Very good value for money. We only stayed one night as it’s at the wrong end of town.

Friendly family run hotel
Friendly family run place to stay just off the main drag of Hikkaduwa. It's quite a walk from the main beach but no problem for us. The hotel is set in pretty grounds with a small swimming pool. The room was big, comfortable, clean and quiet. Owner and staff were really helpful and friendly.

Great little hotel
Great hotel, staff were helpful and friendly. Great location a short walk from the main road and a short walk to restaurants/shops etc. Breakfast was good and had lunch a few times there too. Swimming pool was lovely and clean. Would stay again.

Was very surprised that with the price we paid got a hotel like Star holiday. Good location, nice owner, clean room, good breakfast, nice pool with small kids pool as well. More you cannot expect.

Our stay at Star holiday resort was amazing. The location was beautiful and clean. The pool was great. The owner and he's family were extremely friendly and hospitable. We will definitely recommend this location to all our friends.

Nice, quiet, and convenient
Second time we have stayed at this location. Like it! The grounds are nice and quiet. My favorite part is that it is inexpensive but conveniently located. Just a short walk from the train station (which makes for an easy arrival and also easy day-trips to Galle, Colombo, etc), as well as many restaurants, shops, and the coast. The hotel itself has a few issues of upkeep (a leaky roof in the lobby, and bathroom floors that get wet everywhere after a shower), but nothing that deters me. I will return again and again. The pool is nice, and the morning breakfast is a nice way to start the day!

Great value for money we enjoyed our stay. For a 3 star resort however they should provide bodywash ect in the bathrooms and wifi in the room (only in reception)

Nice hotel very central and reasonable.
Extremely happy with the whole experience. Sampath and staff very helpful and friendly. They go out of their way to assist. Everything was clean Aircon and Mosquito nets available, etc. Everything was walking distance, but Tuk Tuks available all the time for £1. We got a bit lazy and used them several times. Highly recommend. Coral gardens 800 metres. Getfresh Restaurant. Best Seafood platters in the area. For 2 people £15. We went there often. Mamas on the beach. Turtles in front of Hikka Tranz Hotel. Long Beach and Mambos is Good for Surfing and Boogie Boarding, a short Tuk Tuk drive. We also had amazing Strawberry Daquiris and cocktails at Top Secret.

3 nights turned into 6!
Our stay was really nice, we only planned to stay for 3 nights which turned into 6 nights on account of the area, hotel and swimming pool. Good location, 5 minutes away from the main road and railway stataion. Our only minor issue was trying to find someone as reception was rarely manned. Overall we had a lovely stay and would stay here again.

Convenient, charming and great hosts
Lovely stay overall. Great hosts, such a warm and accommodating family. We traveled with our baby boy and they did the best to create a good envirommment for him and us. We would recommend booking the rooms downstairs, as they have more character and seem to be newer and the view is much nicer. The place is close to the beach, about a 5 min walk. But it's the more narrow part of the beach. The wider and busier beach area is 5 min with a tuk tuk (they are always available on the road). We left happy and content.

Great value
Although it's not always quick to catch someone at reception, it's not a problem due to the laid back atmosphere and friendly nature here. It's a lovely little resort which is quiet but still not too far from the beach, restaurants, bus and train station. The pool is a massive bonus and makes it great value for money

Friendly budget stay.
We had already been staying in Hikkaduwa but picked this hotel to stay for our last day as we had a 3am flight home. It was a great value budget hotel with helpful staff and lots of other friendly backpackers. The manager was very helpful in arranging transport to the airport for us at a competitive rate.

A fantastic stay at the Star Holiday Resort
Sampath and his lovely family are what we call 'Real' hosts. We didn't want for anything as Sampath could arrange all we needed such as a great breakfast every morning. Also we hired a scooter from him for a few days which was a great benefit and gave us freedom. Although we didn't use the pool at the Star Resort we did see that it was immaculately clean. Sampath arranged for Sami to come and collect us from the airport. He was there on time with a placard that had our names on. It takes around 2 hours to get from the airport in the evening or night. But, staying at Star Resort is really worth the journey and to swim in the lovely clear sea and experience the pretty tropical beach of Hikkaduwa. Star is a great base and up a quiet lane about 5 mins to the sea. When we hit the main road we turned left and walked 10 mins until a sandy gap where you can walk onto a gorgeous stretch of the beach outside the Hikka Tranz Hotel. The sea is gentle there. If you put your goggles on around 5pm and swim close to the rocks on the right, you will be probably see a big turtle to follow. A turtle will then come to the shallows and you can feed it sea weed. For bigger waves head up the beach to Mambos. When it was time to leave Star Resort, Sampath and his family waved us goodbye at the gate when the taxi was pulling off which is a real lovely touch. If you want to get looked after by a family that care and have a great value for money stay in Hikkaduwa book the Star Resort. It’s lovely.
