The property might have been 5 stars back in the day but to keep the 5 rating some adjustments need to be made. The room had a terrible stale oder that was very off-putting. This is the first impression when entering the room and smell is important. The noise from the street traffic is nearly unbearable and to add insult the air conditioning unit also creates a great deal of unpleasant noise. The light from the outrageously large billboard across the river is unpleasant. The staff was not very attentive compared to much lower rated properties in Vietnam. The drink vouchers that are well advertised are only for Hibiscus tea in the lobby. Tea is not what most internationally travelers call a free drink so it would be better to stop offering free drinks if the drink is limited to tea. It feels insulting after what we paid to stay here.

Fantastic location. Hotel is an aging icon, but well maintained. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It only has a small swimming pool and the roof top bar gets busy.

Good location. We walked around whenever we were back in the hotel after tours. Lots of eateries nearby. If ever we come back to HCM city, we will stay at Hotel Majestic.

Georgeous Hotel in Saigon
Very nice hotel overlooking the river. We like new stuffs, not antique, but this hotel surprised us, and exceeded our expectation. Though it bears the age of 99, it's renovated top to bottom, while keeping the tastefully decorated features, such as the tiny but elegant elevator in the lobby area, the crystal lights so many that wowed us, the swimming pool, the antique-designed bathroom fixtures...etc Strong water pressure of the shower, made us wonder, how could this be from a small antique shower head? One of the most spacious rooms we had rented in HCMC, and the best variety of breakfast choices. Here, you can enjoy the delicious breakfast indoor or outdoor, with the river view as a bonus. All the staff in all departments have been very helpful.

Even though I requested a quiet room on a high floor, I was placed right below the restaurant, where I heard things being moved all afternoon and evening, past midnight and again early in the morning. Fortunately, they moved me to a much better room the next day. The buffet was excellent, with a variety of Vietnamese and non-Vietnamese food, and I could enjoy the view of the river. The gym and pool were relatively small but adequate; free water and bananas in the gym added a nice touch. The rooms were overall ok; but I would not recommend any elderly people or people with limited mobility to stay in these rooms; they would have to climb over a very high tub (or use a stool) without adequate handrails. Overall it should be at best 4 star hotel- in my view.
