Holidays in Itaewon
Throw in your job, buy a ticket, get a tan, fall in love, never return. You don't have to do all of those things, but one you should do is secure that ticket to Itaewon. One of the many neighbourhoods of Seoul, it's a terrific base for exploring everything this city has to offer. The capital of South Korea is home to some 10,300,000 people. Don't be afraid to get out and make friends with a few of them! Itaewon is 3 kilometres south of central Seoul. If you're landing in Gimpo International Airport, toss your bag in the boot of a taxi and make your way 17 kilometres east.
With a good number of the city's best sights close by, Itaewon is a dream for sightseers. From Dongdaemun Market to Gyeongbok Palace, you aren't going to run out of things to keep you on the move. After taking a look at those, you're going to want to continue on to the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center and the National Museum. For a fresh perspective on the city, spend some time at Gyeongnidan-gil and Itawon Street, close-by neighbourhoods that are definitely worth a peek.
There are countless reasons why so many people throng to the city centre. The Korea University and the Sungnyemun Gate are just a couple of them. Alternatively, have a wander around Deoksugung Palace and N Seoul Tower.
Korea House, Supsok Hanbang Land, the Seven Luck Casino Millennium Seoul Hilton Branch and the Seven Luck Casino Seoul Gangnam Branch are perfect for those travelling without kids.
Like to exercise your mind? The Sejong Cultural Center, the Horim Art Center, the Opera Gallery and the Arko Art Center are some leading cultural sites.
Occasionally an artwork can move you so much that you have to discover more about it. See if the staff can inform you about the works at the Seoul Museum of Art, the Leeum Samsung Museum of Art, the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul and the Artsonje Center.
From hands-on activities to mind‐boggling objects and artefacts, museums have something to keep everyone happy. If the weather turns nasty, why not make your way over to the Kimchi Museum, the Lock Museum, the Modern Design Museum and the Ewha Womans University Museum?
There's nothing quite like the atmosphere of excitement when a performance is due to kick off. Watch the curtains go up at the Chongdong Theater, the National Theater, the Seoul Namsan Gugakdang and the Hongdae Music Show Theatre.
Children can be great travel mates, particularly if you go to the right attractions! For an entertaining family day out, head to COEX Aquarium, Ssamji-gil, 63 SeaWorld and the Seoul Animation Center.
Are you travelling with kids but have run out of ideas of things to do? Seodaemun Independence Park, Kukkiwon, Ttukseom Hangang Park and Taehwa Bowling Center are some local attractions they're guaranteed to love.
On a clear blue day, fill your lungs with fresh, clean air and enjoy an afternoon among nature at Mt. Inwang, Seoul Floating Islands and Baeksasil Valley.
If the chaos of city life is getting a bit much, head to one of the nearby local parks. Namsan Park, Yeouido Park, Seoul Forest and Tapgol Park are great spots to take a relaxing stroll or read a book.
There's nothing better than splashing out on some retail therapy. Go on, splurge at Namdaemun Market, Lotte Department Store, Noryangjin Fish Market and Yongsan Electronics Market.
Step back through the mists of time at the War Memorial of Korea, Changgyong Palace, Seonjeongneung Royal Tombs and Changdeokgung Palace. These time-weathered places have a range of educational tales to tell.
If you're interested in religious sites, you should visit the Jogyesa Temple, the Bongeunsa Temple, Yoido Full Gospel Church and Jongmyo Shrine.
It's time to refine your Mexican wave skills and prepare your vocal chords. Come down and show your support for either of the local teams, the LG Twins and Doosan Bears, at Jamsil Baseball Stadium.
