If you head 150 kilometres of Kali, you'll discover the major city of Skopje.

There's nothing like collecting shells by the sea. At some stage during your trip, make your way to Leptokarya Beach, 90 kilometres to the south.

Head beyond Kali and you'll see some picturesque natural sights. Just 10 kilometres away, Waterfall of Edessa is a nice place to soak up some sunshine. Another recommendation is Goumenisa Waterfall, 25 kilometres away from Kali.

Powder hounds and snow bunnies will find it hard to tear themselves away from Kali, as it offers easy access to Elatohori Ski Center and Kaimaktsalan Ski Center - Voras. Don't forget to bring your beanie and gloves! These winter playgrounds can get decidedly chilly.

If you journey 30 kilometres south from Kali, you'll reach Imathia. Some travellers like to use this as a base when going to Church of the Resurrection of Christ and the Byzantine Museum of Veroia.

You may have the urge to book a hotel room in Thessaloniki for a while. This place is 70 kilometres to the east and not far from the Archaeological Museum, White Tower of Thessaloniki and the Arch of Galerius. Other nearby attractions are Saint Demetrios Church and Aristotelous Square.

Clothes? Check. Wallet? Check. But have you brought your appetite? With some delicious food and drink to indulge in in this destination, it's the one thing you won't want to travel without.

Start your night in fine form with a glass of a local wine like Savatiano Retsina or chardonnay. Taste for complexity and character, or just have a bottle with your friends.

Like all good things in life, your trip to Kali must eventually come to an end. When it's finally time to head off, say a last "Ta léme argótera" and spend your leftover holiday allowance on some postcards to take home.

If you're travelling via air, it's a wise idea to map out a route to the terminal before leaving. From the middle of Kali, you'll need to travel about 75 kilometres southeast to Macedonia Airport (SKG), the nearest airport.
