Holidays in Kudi

Your last vacay feel like it was light years ago? Simple — book a ticket to Kudi and you'll be off before you know it!

It's located 110 kilometres to the south of Seoul, the capital of South Korea.

Mother Nature's handiwork is on full display around Kudi. Just 45 kilometres away, TaeanHaean National Park is a good place to start. Gyeryongsan National Park sits 45 kilometres away and is another pleasant spot to find some peace and quiet.

Are you a sports buff? Then you'll want to investigate the event schedule at Cheonan Baekseok Stadium, located 40 kilometres to the northeast in Cheonan.

Jump on the chairlift at Jisan Forest Ski Resort, enjoy the blinding white views and then zoom your way back to the lodge. For even more teeth-chattering thrills, check out the slopes at Ski World at Konjiam Resort.

Venture outwards and see what's happening in Yesan, 13 kilometres to the north. Lots of visitors come here for Daeheungimjonseong Fortress and the Daeheung Dongheon. Alternatively, Hongseong is 13 kilometres to the west of Kudi. Swing by this place for access to the Korea Traditional Architecture Museum and the Jeongamsa Temple.

Whether it's for a bit of retail therapy or to see the sights, locals and travellers alike often make the trip out to Cheongju, 65 kilometres to the east. The Chungbuk National University, the Heungdeok Temple Site and the Cheongju National Museum are all within a stone's throw. That being said, you wouldn't want to miss out on the Cheongju Early Printing Museum and Jikji Pavillion either.

Whether you enjoy the opulence of Michelin stars or devouring a snack from a street stall, tasting the local food and drink is maybe the best thing about travel. So why not tingle your taste buds by digging into some of the region's mouthwatering offerings?

Are you curious about some of the staple ingredients that are used here? You should be prepared to taste beans and mushrooms in many of your meals.

Don't miss the chance to order a plate of eoriguljeot (oysters with chili) or bibimbap (sautéed vegetables on rice). These much-loved dishes are what Chungcheongnam-do is all about.

Still have a little room after your main meal? Then put in your order for bungeo-ppang (red bean filled pastry), a moreish sweet treat.

To beer or not to beer? Of course, the answer is always beer. When you're in this part of the world, Prime Max is the name to say.

Prefer something that'll put some hairs on your chest? Then take a sip of cheongju (rice wine). Ask the barkeeper if it's good in any cocktails. If that fails, lift your shot glass and enjoy it neat!

Pencil the 15th of August in your diary. To the locals, this means one thing — Liberation Day. A major day of festivities, this is a marvellous time of year to check out the country.

Security checkpoints, delayed flights and long lines. Airports are often very taxing. Give yourself plenty of time to make your way to Cheongju International Airport (CJJ). Situated 65 kilometres to the east, it's the closest terminal.
