This hotel is in an excellent location on the harbour and within walking distance to everything we wanted to see in Halifax. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The building seemed old and in disrepair. Two of the three elevators to our room were not working. Carpets were stained and worn. Bathroom fixtures need replacing. Major construction going on outside the hotel made it very difficult to access both by car and by foot.

I have mixed feelings about my stay at Hotel Halifax. The room was mostly clean, and the bed mattress was very comfortable, but the sheet on one side of the bed had a very concerning dried white substance on it, which I hope wasn’t what I think it was. One of the pillows also had a red stain that might have been blood. The WiFi was unusable, often dropping down to 0.1 Mbps, which made even YouTube buffer, even at a very low quality. All in all, I don’t regret staying here as the price was right and the staff was friendly, just don’t expect it to be better than an average motel.

The only complaint I have is my truck was damaged while parking the the parkade. I have a pickup truck, just stock with no lift kits or big tires but still struck the roof while going from the first to the second level.

The construction around the hotel is a bit of a nuisance but you can use the Pedway to get around to Scotia Square and the waterfront and the Casino. It's very convenient using the pedway
