Our apartment is in a fantastic location to start your visit to Lisbon. It has a view and is located 5 minutes walk from the Castelo de São Jorge. Around it, the most typical neighborhoods of Lisbon boil: the Mouraria neighborhood (where it is said that Fado was born), the Castelo district and the Alfama district. It is two steps away from Martim Moniz, Baixa, Graça or Chiado. Our space is ideal for couples, individual trips and families (with children).
The apartment is very cozy and bright and has just been completely renovated. It has about 50m2, overlooks the Castle and the city and is located on the 1st floor of a historic building. It has a bedroom and a living room and comfortably accommodates 4 people. The kitchen is fully equipped and the toilet is modern and functional.
During your stay we will leave you with a guide with various tour or visit plans, which include the best places and itineraries to be able to taste and discover Lisbon.
If you plan to use a car during your stay, there are several car parks in the area.
There are many restaurants, terraces and terraces in the area for all tastes: from traditional Portuguese food, to seafood restaurants (the best in Lisbon), to Fado houses (where Severa was born), to international restaurants. It also has many traditional shops and commercial areas. In the Mouraria area there is everything.
Two steps away we reach Baixa, Chiado, Graça or Martim Moniz. On foot or in the famous and traditional tram nº 28.
Martim Moniz also has the metro line and several buses and, a little further down, at Rossio or Cais do Sodré, there are trains to Sintra, Estoril and Cascais.

I have a chronic lung disease. The top of the hill location was not good. I couldn’t walk up the hill. We needed a cab everywhere I wish this was stated in the listing. The place was adequate.

Smells like sewage
The bathroom has a terrible odor of sewage. Had to keep the door closer so the whole apartment didn't smell horrible. The pull out couch was incredibly uncomfortable and had the previous user's hair in it. I would not recommend this property.

A gateway to Graca
This property was a cute little historic house at the bottom of the new Fenicular de Graca. The property was adequate for 2 to 3 persons, and had been nicely decorated by the host. Wish there had been garbage bags and a colander. but we managed. There happened to be a Festivus going on throughout Lisbon during our stay which imparted a party atmosphere to our stay.

So and so..
The location of the apartment allows to be close to the city center and the metro. The host's communication was also effective and fast. However we encountered several critical issues during our stay. First of all, we were not very satisfied with the cleanliness of the apartment, furthermore there is a musty smell, in fact a piece of the wall is completely ruined due to infiltrations, and a strong unpleasant odor comes from the bathroom. Another unpleasant surprise was the presence of some cockroaches inside the apartment. However, some of these problems may be understandable given the age of the building. Also, no cleaning products were provided, as we stayed for a week, so we had to buy our own. Shower gel and shampoo are also not available. Another critical issue was the discomfort of the sofa bed, which was a little broken and did not allow us to sleep decently, also due to the loud noises coming from the apartment above at indecent hours. So the apartment is ok for those who don't have high expectations, but improvements could certainly be made to ensure that guests can enjoy their stay more comfortably.

Location is great, property not so much.
Located in the old section of Lisbon, close to the sights and shopping. The host wasn't very responsive, I sent him a note the first morning after we arrived about a sewer smell in the bathroom and never got a reply. This is one of the worst rental experices we have had in 25+ years.

Terrible stay, left after one day
Was booked for two weeks, left property after one night. Got there and there was a sewage odour in the apartment. Contacted the owner about the smell but got no reply. Got a knock on the door that night and a man came in without an introduction, opened a locked cupboard, removed a jug of liquid and proceeded to pour it down the sink, toilet and shower. Then he left without any explanation. As I watch him, it appeared he was trying to disguise the smell by dumping a liquid down the drains. That night we left the kitchen fan on to disperse the smell. The smell was there the following morning. I texted the owner and said we were leaving and wanted a refund of 2/3 of the amount instead of the full amount. Got a reply via text that this was the first time this has happened and should contact VRBO. I sent a reply stating what I witnessed from the man the previous night try to disguise the smell. She then replied that the smell only happens when it rains and it hadn’t rained. I explained that we had contacted VRBO and were leaving on the advise of VRBO. We could not stay in that place risking our health breathing in sewage fumes. Looking at previous reviews, this sewage smell is an ongoing problem. Communication with this owner was terrible. Finally got instructions on entry on the day we arrived, even after numerous phone calls. Apartment was dusty, no soap in shower area, no TV channels, sketchy area. No refund.

Great location
Great for a short stay! Keys are given by the cafe worker downstairs, who greeted us with free juice and pastel de nata pastries (which were better than the ones at the factory in belem in our opinion). Having that cafe just downstairs was great, so easy to grab a cheap breakfast, coffee, or snack. We were within walking distance to lots, and many other things just a short uber drive away. Give yourself extra time when ubering as they tend to take much longer than it says with traffic. Bathroom was small, but all we needed for a couple nights. It was easy to hear the neighbours, but I don’t know that any of the other units are used as vacation rentals, we met some people who lived there and people were respectful. As 2 young females we felt safe in this location. We did have an issue with our door lock breaking on our last night, but neighbours in the other apartments as well as the cafe worker were all helping and we found a solution with taking the one lock out and just using the deadbolt. Overall we enjoyed our time here

Great apartment, poor communication
Firstly the good stuff - this is a lovely little apartment in a great location - a perfect base for exploring the city. Once we were there we had a great time. However, the communication was poor - we only got the check-in details as we were literally flying out to Lisbon and that was after 5 days of chasing which was an unnecessarily stressful start to our holiday.

Amazing location, unit, and cafe! Would highly recommend.
This was our first trip to Lisbon and we are so happy that we stayed here. The unit itself was clean, had anything you might need (cooking, blankets and even a play pen and highchair!),l. It was a cozy spot to sit and see Lisbon living out your window. The location was a nice walk to almost anywhere in the Old City and into the main centre (or an inexpensive cab). We had our 9 month old baby with us and it worked out great. They provided us with a play pen and high chair and when the windows were closed the unit was pretty quiet. It being an old building, you could hear other units above and next door but this wasn't an issue, though they are also rental units so it would be a toss up depending on social staying too. The best part of this unit was the cafe below; we were able to quickly run down and grab a coffee and tart in the mornings or go sit and enjoy a beer and practice our Portuguese with the friendly patrons or the kind and helpful staff. Any questions we had they were happy to help and always welcomed us. We felt part of the neighbourhood! We would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Lisbon who wants to immerse themselves in the city and who love to walk!

very poor communication with host. Left waiting in the bakery downstairs to get the check in as agreed then they had the nerve to ask us to check out early. Very noisy tenant above. On the bright side, reasonable walk to the water and Tram 28. Lots going on at the waterfront! A bit of a sketchy area but it is after all the old part of Lisbon

Great location for walking to local attractions or catching a tram.
I would rent this property again. You have to be able to stand some noise from the occupants of the local apartments, as the walls and ceiling are not that thick. There are some loud local dogs, but they quiet down at night. But the apartment is comfortable.

Very clean; bathroom and kitchen recently refurbished. This property is located close to a metro station which provides easy access to all areas of the city (just two to four stops to most likely destinations in the centre) if one chooses not to walk. The castle and other view points are minutes away. Close also to shops -- minimarkets, bakers etc. The street is busy by day but really quiet at night.
