Arrived a few hours early than the 15:00 checkin. This was not a problem, as the room was ready for our arrival. Antoine the concierge was friendly, helpful and accommodating. We stayed in the Conwy suite which if you can pay that little extra would be well worth it. The new owners have recently reconditioned the rooms. I would highly recommended staying as it’s idealy positioned for Snowdon and its attractions.
Recently changed ownership - 1st visit here. Food was excellent both for evening meal and breakfast. Imagine during the summer months this hotel will be booked up most evenings
We had a two night stay in a lovely country house hotel with a magnificent view of the valley, ample car parking and staff attentive, food good (including evening meal we chose to have on the first night we were there). A very relaxing experience.
Fantastic views and surroundings, such a beautiful place to stay. There is a steep drive so not good for people with walking difficulties or disanilities, unless they drive. The train is only over the road but this is a main road. Plenty of seating outside, which was comfortable and relaxing. It says 5 stars, which it may have been in its day but it's a little dated now. However having said that we had a mountain view suite, which was stunning for the price. We would go back again in a second. The owners were very pleasant and attentive. Cooked breakfast good but no fruit choice at all, so well under 5 star status. I would recommend this as a 3 star standard hotel, for the price we were very happy and would go again.
Lovely house in North Wales. Owners were very helpful in accommodating us for dinner the first night even though we previously declined. Make sure you plan for this ahead of time as there are limited options open later in the area. You can't walk to anything from the house so make sure you have what you need to settle in for the night. It was quiet and peaceful and had a lovely little bar (felt more like a living room) to settle in and catch up with friends or fellow travelers. Showers were hit or miss as some had better water pressure and temperature control than others, which is very important to some travelers.
We stayed at Plas Maenan to celebrate our anniversary after getting married at the hotel 3 years ago. We stayed in the same room/suite and couldn't have asked for anything more. The room and hotel was clean, service was great, meal was as gorgeous as always and we were even made a the same dessert that we had for our wedding even though it wasn't on the menu. I had injured my foot and they were so caring about it. The staff could not have been more helpful. Superb stay. Thank you so much to everyone invloved.
Nice hotel in a beautiful location just off the A470, so easy to find but not noisy as there are some woods surrounding the hotel. Clean, spacious room. Relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
I stayed at the hotel for one night with my 12 year old son on his first hiking trip. We requested a nice room with a good view and we were allocated a fantastic room (probably an upgrade) right at the front of the hotel with absolutely breath taking views of the hills and mountains beyond. Not all rooms have such views so don't expect this from reading this review in every room. The room came with a separate sitting room which was also a lovely touch. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the hotel in general has a lot of nice touches including the fury sheep in reception and the main public sitting room. Breakfast which was served in the conservatory was also excellent, just what we needed for our 5 hour hike!
A real tranquil spot right in the heart of the countryside an ideal retreat if you are looking for a quiet break or just want to unwind. I would definitely return without any hesitation.
