This place is very beautiful and romantic. The staff was wonderful! Getting to the hotel was challenging, way up a mountain in the middle of nowhere! Nothing to do in the area.
I booked this hotel as a stop over on our trip from Switzerland to CinqueTerre... I had no idea how amazing it was !! I would recommend it for couples who want to take some time alone for a couple of days ! The breakfast was amazing and the staff were wonderful !
Beautiful relaxed hotel with excellent staff. No check in as such but the hotel staff took care of all of our queries. Off site parking is a little tight but sufficient. Rooms are antique in style, matching the whole ambience of the hotel. Only one staff member serving breakfast in the morning but he did a great job of keeping all of the guests happy until backup arrived at about 09.30h. The staff really make this hotel special.
The setting was like being in a classic Italian movie...or a fairy tale with twinkling lights. Everyone was gracious, generous and made you feel like family. They couldn’t do enough to please you.
The linens and room service were perfection and the food was as fine as we’ve had anywhere in the World.
Our waiter ( Francesco?) made every effort to ensure we tasted and selected the best wines to accompany our extraordinary dinners and Ricardo wrote a book describing in great detail all the best local sites to visit! We biked we hiked, we picnicked, we looked at art and sculpture, we did the Pilgrimage, we lit candles, and I became
Catholic again :-)
We are now spoiled forever !

Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Beautiful location but tricky mountain road to negotiate every time you want to go somewhere. Two nights enough. Food at hotel good but overpriced. At least £100 for two for even a basic meal. Couple of other restaurants in the village but very busy.
Overall a lovely experience but we shouldn’t have booked for 7 days.
My friends, husband and I were all blown away by the ambiance, character, service and amazing views provided by Al Borducan. Ricardo and Allessandro went above and beyond with impeccable hospitality making our visit our absolute favorite in all of Italy. The candles were so beautiful inside the dining room and on the patio enabling to have the most memorable romantic dinner in the Italian Alps. The 5 course meal prepared by their chef was also superb! Upon arrival you are greeted with their famous elixir accompanied with an awesome platter of appetizers in the lovely patio. I can thank them enough for a perfect and most memorable experience. We will recommend Al Borducan for any honeymoon, vacation or bucket list to everyone we can. We look so forward to returning to Varese’s Al Borducan again soon.
Wonderful hotel on a mountain but just at the bottom of a little village called Santa Maria del Monte which was exquisite and had a few places to stop by and eat and drink. The hotel staff were lovely, the views were amazing, the decor was really quaint and the music played really gave the place some atmosphere and set the scene. The food was absolutely delicious and we loved the Elixir. I couldn't fault this hotel and it's once place I would love to return to, it was like stepping back in time into a fairy tale.
This hotel was so charming and had a truly amazing view! The staff was so nice and helpful. A breakfast was included with the price of the room, and it was delicious. We also had dinner there and that was really special. I loved this hotel!
The place is an historical beautiful building that has only 10 rooms with an amazing view of the lake. The stuff was really nice and was always willing to help. The room was very clean and decorated. Breakfast was awesome with fresh and verity of food.
