Holidays in Maakri

One thing all of us can agree on is that travel is life. So grab your suitcase, kiss your goldfish goodbye and get yourself to Maakri! A neighbourhood in Tallinn, it's a brilliant base for exploring this sensational city's sights. The capital of Estonia is home to around 390,000 people. Don't be scared to get out and meet a few of them! After landing and picking up your bags at Lennart Meri Airport, your taxi will head 3 kilometres northwest to arrive in Maakri. From the centre of the city, it's a drive of 0.3 kilometres to the south.

A great deal of this city's top sights are sprinkled near Maakri, and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral and St Mary's Cathedral are some of the very best. The have-to-see sights of St. Nicholas' Church and St. Olav's Church are also at your fingertips. While you're in town, consider checking out a few other neighbourhoods to taste more of what Tallinn has to offer. Tallinn and City Center are great recommendations that are nearby.

Town Hall Square and the Kumu Art Museum are a couple of marvellous sights in the centre of Tallinn that you shouldn't miss.

The Rusian Cultural Center, the Tallinn Art Hall, the Asuur Ceramics and the Vaal Gallery are ideal for those wanting to learn a bit about the area's culture.

Not much calms the mind and boosts your creativity like an afternoon in an art gallery. Spark your curiosity as you study the powerful works showcased at the Niguliste Museum, the Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia, the Mikkel Museum and the Adamson-Eric Museum.

Sometimes it's the main exhibits that stand out. Other times it's an under-appreciated artefact that's been hidden away in a dusty corner. Keep a lookout for both at the Museum of Occupation, the Dominican Monastery Museum, the Horsemill and the Soviet Life Exhibit.

There's nothing quite like the atmosphere of excitement when a live show is about to begin. Take your seat and watch the curtains go up at Estonian National Opera, Tallinn Song Festival Grounds, the Estonian State Puppet Theatre and the Vene Theater.

Children can be delightful travel buddies, especially if you go to the right places! For an entertaining family day out, head to the National Library of Estonia, the Kalamaja Children’s Museum Miiamilla and the Children's Museum Miiamilla.

If you're blessed with amazing weather, fill your lungs with fresh, clean air and delight in the beauty of nature at Port of Tallinn, the Kadrioru Park, the Danish King's Garden and Tonismagi.

Whether you're in the mood to relax with a good novel in hand or play a game of Frisbee with your friends, the nearby urban parks are charming places to be. Choose from either Hirvepark, Toompark, Linda Hill and Tammsaare Park.

A marvellous way to remember your holiday is by taking home a memento or two. See what you can find at Rottermann Quarter, Solaris Centre, Ulemiste Center and Kristiine Shopping Centre.

Learn lessons from the past at a couple of the area's historic sites, such as Kiek in de Kok and Bastion Passages Museum, Kadriorg Palace, Toompea Castle and Pikk Hermann.

Learn about the region's spiritual side or just reflect in the serene surroundings of Dominican Monastery, St. Charles' Church, Church of the Holy Ghost and Church of the Redeemer.

Watch the FC Flora Tallinn or the Estonia National Team go for the win at their home venue of A. Le Coq Arena. If your visit doesn't line up with match day, check the concert schedule and get ready to rock out!

"Staff were friendly and helpful, making us feel special. The room had an incredible view. The slighlty see through bathroom was a bit strange bit we got past it. It would also be great if there was bubble bath. But overall a lovely stay."

"The hotelroom was the most clean hotel room I have ever been in. Overall really clean and in good condition. Service was ok, but would have appreciated a few smiles from the staff. One big minus comes from the noisy room. The street noises came through the windows, and over all not good sound ..."
