The music, in such a cosy and intimate setting, was outstanding. The musician, Neal McDaniel, was very talented. All this was at no extra cost, although most guests left a gratuity.
We couldn't stay once we walked through the building to our room. It smelled absolutely awful. Worse than a barn or porta potty. I actually gagged. We left for a bit, totally distraught because we had nowhere else to go and had already been charged for the room. But we decided to go back and returned our key and left. There was no possible way we could have stomached a night there. Thankfully we had a friend in the area that found us a room with a family member. DO NOT STAY THERE. Grossest place ever
This is an older property, but we’ll taken care of. The staff and owners were fantastic, and the entertainment they provide was authentic in a very intimate setting. Definitely recommend this.
This Inn/Cabin/Hotel is a great spot to stay if you're touring the Cape Breton Island. We were visiting the western area of the island (CB Highlands National Park nearest to Cheticamp) so this was a good and affordable place to stay while we were in this area. What we absolutely found amazing was the impeccable customer service of the staff. When we arrived, we were offered to stay in one of the cabin if we wanted to but chose instead to stay in a very quaint and comfortable room in the main lodge. Unfortunately, we soon found out that there was no hot water and it was already past midnight and the staff was away. Made one phone call and the owner was quick to come over, talk with us and fix the problem. There was a lot a hot water after his visit. Very interesting older gentleman to talk to. The room was extremely comfortable and we truly enjoyed our night. We will definitely be back to this place.

The place was clean, still kept it’s rustic look. Taking a seat outside at night and watching the sparkling stars was great.
Waking up to Animals such as horses and Cows, was a beautiful experience.
Coffee and bread were fresh and waiting in the front desk.
Highly recommend.
My wife and I had a wonderful 3 night stay. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. The property which consists of 250 acres of farmland and forest is mostly open for your enjoyment. Looking out from our cabin porch we could see the horses and highland cattle grazing in a close by field. The animals are all healthy and happy looking. We took wonderful walks around the property daily and met lots of friendly CFA's along the way. The cabins are a bit dated but still comfortable. Cleanliness was on a par with other places we stayed this trip. Personally we thought it could be improved on. But early Sept is late in the season here so... also remember the cabins are used by fisherman often who are coming and going with all their gear. Every morning we could get coffee at the office by 7:30am. In the dining area you can also get breakfast and or dinner in the evening. I would recommend this place to anyone just looking to get away. We enjoyed our stay!
Difficult to find. Remote poor road. Little signage to help you find your way. Dated.
Friendly efficient staff, food very good, entertainment very enjoyable and in spite of our comments, we very much enjoyed our stay.

A very pleasant stay
We stayed only one night here. Although the property is a bit older the buildings appear well cared for and the setting is lovely. We had a very clean and comfortable room . The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely meal in the dining room. All in all a very pleasant stay and we would recommend it.
We were given the choice of rooms or cabins for the same price. There was no TV, alarm clocks, or phones in the cabins. There was rust in the shower tubs. It felt like living on a farm in the 1920's. It was not a good experience at all and do not know how this classed as a hotel. We could not wait to check out.
We were placed in a dirty old wooden cabin which was my worst nightmare. Hardly slept a wink. Other than that, the meal we had was excellent and the Celtic music in the music barn was very enjoyable.
Comfortable beds and a friendly and helpful staff makes this quirky place that much better. If you book understanding this is a very old house with little upgrades, you will be fine. Yes the walls are thin so you hear every creak but it's part of the charm. It reminds me so much of my grandparents house in Ireland when I was young. The traditional music at the barn on site on Friday and the music in the living room on Saturday was fabulous too.
Owners were very accommodating and friendly. This is a historic property. It has an old fashioned social component with live music in the common area and several fire pits on the grounds. Walking trails begin on this working farm. Truly charming. We enjoyed our much needed relaxing stay. We are motorcycle riders and the location was perfect for the must do Cabot trail.
This was the filthiest place I’ve ever stayed. We have stayed in old rustic cabins before. This was dirty, gross & uncomfortable. The curtains looked like they had not been cleaned in 30 years. Gross old quilts. Musty. I even looked to see if there were bedbugs. Didn’t open luggage because of the spiders & bugs we saw inside the house. Didn’t shower because tubs looked yucky. Noisy rumbling AC that turned on and off all night. My son wanted to sleep in the car. We sat outside & watched the sunrise & left as soon as my husband had enough sleep to drive. Couldn’t get out fast enough. Please note- we really are not picky people. We are happy & adaptable but honestly they need to knock it all down & rebuild. Ps. We were only told after arriving no breakfast was available - this place is on the middle of nowhere. I’m sorry because the staff are nice & this was probably really good in it’s hay day, but this was a terrible experience for us.
