Forgetting a nine a.m. meeting with your boss is a pretty clear sign that you need to get outta town for a bit. So why not step off the beaten track to Mogam and explore the charming beaches of South Jeolla? (The only thing you'll need to remember is how to relax!)

It's located 330 kilometres to the south of the nation's capital, Seoul.

Everyone knows that simply spending time in nature can improve your well-being, both mental and physical. Keeping that in mind, why don't you travel 25 kilometres out of Mogam to Wolchulsan National Park? Yudal Mountain, 50 kilometres away, is another recommended option.

There's even more to see and do just down the road. Gangjin, 8 kilometres to the northwest, is popular for the Dasan Chodang and the Birthplace of Yeongnang. Alternatively, if Jangheung Council and Jeamsan Recreational Forest are more your thing, head 12 kilometres northeast from Mogam to Jangheung.

Locals often head over to Mokpo. This destination is 50 kilometres to the northwest and not too far from the National Maritime Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, the Mokpo Modern History Museum and the Korean National Maritime Museum. If you're staying on a little while, don't miss the Mokpo Natural History Museum and Mokpo Bridge.
