Perfect location near a tram station, so getting about was easy. Excellent host who was friendly and very helpful, and spoke fluent English, despite me wanting to practice my French!!! Only a small number of rooms so the host could be very attentive, and the excellent breakfast could be taken in the room if desired. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Gilles is a wonderful, friendly host, eager to help with everything from restaurant recommendations to beach supplies. The location is a quick walk to the beach and across from a tram station, as well as a lovely 25 minute walk along the promenade to the old city. The hotel is comfy and quirky, and feels very safe.

The hotel is perfectly located in a beautiful boulevard and directly opposite a local park and the tram stop for the airport. A very short walk to the Promenade Des Anglais and the seafront . Very conveniently located for the main shopping area and close proximity to many, many restaurants . The hotel provided excellent service by Gillies and Cosette who were very knowledgeable about all aspects of travel, and questions related to our holiday there. The breakfast was really very good too! A comfortable room with all facilities including a small kitchenette. Comfortable bed, good air conditioning , TV and fast Wi-Fi. We enjoyed a very good 6 night holiday at the Victor Hugo and we would certainly choose this hotel again on our next trip to Nice.

The Victor Hugo is quite a quirky but historical Hotel. You do get some real benefits here…. Surprisingly beach towels which saves €7 Euro a day on the beach. A free breakfast is also very acceptable. The aircon is excellent for a 2* and the manager Giles is a mine of information. Tea and coffee making facilities were great and whilst the shower was commensurately tight overall this was an excellent stay and we would recommend the Hotel. The only slight down side is the latest arrival is 7pm so bear that in mind

It's near everything: the Promenade des Anglais, restaurants, tram station a couple of yards away. The hotel manager/owner is very knowledgeable. He made me a map and told me about the best things to see in the area and how to get there. Highly recommend.

Hotel Victor Hugo exceeded expectations!
We loved our stay at Hotel Victor Hugo. The location was superb: a beautiful tree lined residential neighborhood with stately buildings, but also close to the Prommenade Anglais and Old Town. Giles, the proprietor, was extremely helpful. He is an excellent resource for restaurants, museums, public transport, etc. and came to our aid when my partner realized he had left two important medications at home in the USA. Giles located a pharmacy able to help us on a Sunday when most French pharmacies are closed. An added bonus was "breakfast included". Even though the dining area was a bit cramped, the food selection was more than ample. We would not hesitate to return.

Un séjour impeccable à l'Hôtel Victor Hugo à Nice ! Son emplacement est idéal, juste en face de la station de tram et à seulement 10 minutes de marche de la gare. Le petit déjeuner, bien que simple, est délicieux. L'accueil chaleureux de l'hôte ajoute une touche spéciale à l'expérience. De plus, le fait que l'hôtel soit dog-friendly est un véritable avantage pour les voyageurs avec des compagnons à quatre pattes. Recommandé sans hésitation pour un séjour confortable et pratique à Nice !

A small independent hotel in a residential area very close to the tram stop direct from the airport. Short walks to the promenade and the station. The hotel occupies the ground floor in an old building with just a few steps up from the street level. The rooms are as shown in the photos. If you want modern and elegant it might not be right for you. Basic cleanliness as it’s an old building with dusty corners. It’s close to a crossroad with traffic lights and some drivers do love to share there music whilst waiting so if you are a light sleeper maybe try for a room further away from the junction. Breakfast is timed for later risers and is communal and friendly guests exchanging trips and experiences can add to the enjoyment. Gilles speaks good English and aims to be help.

My 15 year old has declared this the best place we have stayed on our 2 week trip to France. Quaint with lots of charm, nice amenities (I was happy to finally have a place that provided wash clothes along with the towels!) yummy breakfast items, in a great location.

Our mother-daughter trip to Nice this past summer was such a success, thanks in large part to this charming hotel being our home away from home during our stay! Our room was spacious, bright, and clean — even equipped with a kitchenette. As other reviewers have already mentioned, Gilles and Cosette are such wonderful and welcoming hosts. Any time we needed recommendations, directions, extra amenities, or just wanted to chat, Gilles and Cosette were always very warm and knowledgeable. We also really appreciated the delicious complimentary breakfast each morning. A huge plus as well is the location — a quick 10-15 minute walk could get you to the Nice-Ville train station, Place Massena, Promenade des Anglais, and the stunning beach. It was also so convenient to have the Alsace-Lorraine tram station just across the street from the hotel, which we used to go to and from the airport. This also is a safe area, so coming back to our room later at night was not an issue. Merci beaucoup for the fantastic experience! Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Victor Hugo, a nice little place in Nice.
This hotel had a great location and was very nice. It is small, only seven rooms, but very nice. Nice place in Nice.
