Stayed two nights, probably the best hotel. So convenient to dining options. Walking distance to old town and morning market. Book the deluxe room. Room was huge with 3 beds and a sofa where u can put a futon if have 4 Guest. Also have space for a table and chairs, I could eat breakfast with my family. But the best was the huge powder room, two person can do makeup side by side at same time. Then the washing machine to do laundry and the microwave oven all in your room. The onsen was super nice too. Love the open air onsen, big and beautiful. Parking for rental car was covered and spacious, glad we didn’t park at open carpark as it was snowing overnight and the next day. I will definitely stay again!

An extremely convenient location a short walk from Takayama train and bus station. This comfortable apartment hotel is a great place to base yourself to see Takayama and the surrounding Hida district.

Stayed in the suite as we had 6 people on this trip, including 2 younger children. Children thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Dining options were solid and most of the customers were local. This place specializes in hot spring baths, which are the main attraction. Most everything else will require a car to get around for.

Arrive early here so that you can enjoy their free offerings such as warm sake, cold beer and more! Their public bath has indoor, outdoor and sauna! We enjoyed bath a lot and foods! Their presentations were so stylish and amazing! We will be back again with other friends!

Brought my little brother here for his first trip to Japan, and what a way to introduce him to Japanese hospitality. Every staff there was awesome! Great food, and great onsen!

We loved our stay at Ryokan Sansui. The view of the mountains around the hotel were amazing with tri-colored foliage. The staff were also very lovely and kind. The food was also delicious and more than I had expected. Communication wasn't too easy, but the message would get across. The best part was, of course, the onsen (hot spring) experience. They offer both public (gender-separated) hot springs and baths, as well as 4 private ones that don't need prior booking or extra fees. Getting there and back took a lot of time though, so our 1-day trip seemed a bit too short.
