It lies 250 kilometres to the east of the country's capital, Prague.

Spend a laid-back afternoon at Ostravice River. It lies just 30 kilometres away from Opava. Inhale the clean air and take some time to simply slow down.

There's nothing quite like excitedly jumping out of bed and finding some fresh snow at Ustron Ski Resort. Once you've checked out all the runs there, pack up your skis or snowboard and continue onwards to Szczyrk Ski Resort.

Searching for lots more things to see and do? Go to Hlučín, 20 kilometres east of Opava, for the Technical University Ostrava and Vodni Svet. Alternatively, Silherovice is 25 kilometres to the east, and it's here you'll discover the Ostrava Museum and the Milos Sykora Memorial.
