This hotel has a policy of walking into your room WITHOUT Knocking while guests are in the room. I called the front desk the 1st time it happened. I asked them to tell all their people to knock. Then, it happened TWO more times! We then kept our deadbolt locked to feel safe. The manager wasn’t apologetic. She said that the hotel policy IS to knock first. That’s NOT what happens. Then…The 5th night at about 9pm, an ALARM went off throughout the hotel. We ran down to the lobby. Others were screaming. There were many guests gathered in the lobby and out on the street, at 35 degrees F (some in bath robes.) There was nobody at the front desk, only two men frantically working on a panel. They said, “it’s okay, it’s NOT a fire alarm, it’s just a test of the electrical system.” If so, WHY didn’t they alert us beforehand? Then they ignored us. We were not comforted. We stood outside for about 15 minutes waiting for the alarm to shut off. No fire trucks showed up. Why not? A fire alarm was blaring! Is this SAFE? The alarm was silenced, we saw no smoke or fire, so we eventually went back upstairs. Hotel staff was not apologetic. The next morning, the manager said that it WAS a fire alarm-set off by a guest smoking in the room! Story changed! I complained about the inconvenience and a sleepless night. She had a token apology and argued that it was all good. It was all fine, according to her. She argued her point for at least 40 minutes! This hotel knows nothing about customer service.
