Do not stay at this hotel. We arrived after dark, its very poorly lit, front desk was closed and had to check in at the BAR. Upon arriving, the person at the bar informed me that the Orbitz rate I paid was only for 1 person, although my reservation clearly states 2 guests/2 bedroom cabin, we went back and forth for several minutes in her attempt to get me to pay double. Finally stating that her manager wasnt there and she would just give me the key. As mentioned before the property is very poorly lit so the cabin was hard to find. Upon entering, the heater was broken, the stove is extremly rusted, bathroom and light fixtures were dirty and dusty. After 2 min deliberation, we returned the key to the bar and mentioned that we weren't comfortable staying here. Our only option being to drive back across the entire island we ended up staying in a cheaper resort lodge that was much better. Not only did they try to make me pay double on arrival but they refuse to refund the 1 night stay. Ive never run into this issue before but if I owned a hotel and had a guest this disappointed and uncomfortable with the accomodation, I would refund their stay. Save your time and money and stay somewhere else, The Mercure Kangaroo Island Lodge was worth the 45
minute drive back across the island. For less cost, Amazing service and very nice rooms.
