We had high hopes going in (based on how this hotel presented and the reviews they have), and perhaps that impacted our perspective, but this place really bummed us out. At no point did we feel welcomed by any members of the staff, and we felt like an inconvenience or like the staff was mad at us the whole time. You have to get valet to park here, and they park in a random lot in the city (not at the hotel). Valet took 40min to grab our car and seemed very upset to have to be working (tipped anyway). We walked into the lobby and it immediately smelled overwhelmingly like a dive bar. The smell of old cigarette smoke is soaked into the walls of the place. The front desk missed all the details we left on our mobile check in, and seemed put off that they had to help us check in at all. Our room had hair on the bed, the dresser, and the bathroom, and there were crumbs on the floor. The curtains in our room…to avoid graphic details I’ll just say they needed, very obviously, to be replaced. One of the nightstand outlets didn’t work. The TV remote was dead. The door stopper broke off in the bathroom. The sink has a spout that pours the water 1” in front of the edge of the sink so there is not enough space for you to wash your hands. Closet hanger snagged my clothing. I mean, is that enough to justify a 1 star review?? I would have avoided this place had I known different.

The Benson is a classic vintage hotel, but our room was very nice with modern updates and conveniences. You don’t always find that in older hotels.

I love the architecture, beautiful building. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. The staff are very nice. Peter at the restaurant was exceptionally nice. The staff at the front desk were also extremely nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel

Amazing service. I felt incredibly safe and valued as a customer staying here. $50 for valet parking but worth it for the safety of our vehicle. The history alone of the hotel is worth the stay.

Excellent location, the restaurant’s food was good, and very friendly staff. I just didn’t get the boutique vibe and the bathroom was tiny. Overall I’m not disappointed and would stay again.
