Holidays in Prince Regent River

When your boss is on your back cos you've chucked too many sickies, it's time to take a breather from the nine-to-five and say hello to Prince Regent River!

It's situated 3,200 kilometres to the northwest of the country's capital, Canberra.

There's also King Cascade. It's a terrific place to check out if you've got time.

Indulge your inner adventurer and delight in the area's landscapes with some rock climbing. Or, maybe you'd rather go mountain climbing?

If you're feeling tense, take the opportunity to head outdoors and go shore fishing. If it's not really to your liking, camping might be more relaxing.

Whether you're plunging headfirst into it, floating on top of it or whizzing across it, nothing beats spending time near the water. You can select from a few watersports here, including swimming and snorkeling.

There is no better way to get to know a destination than to literally take a bite out of it! You're invited to discover Kimberley by dining on some of its best food and drink.

Once you sit down and flip through a menu at a café or restaurant, you'll discover that beef and lamb are a few ingredients commonly used in the local cuisine.

During your time in Prince Regent River, why not eat like a local? That means tucking into a plate of salt and pepper squid or meat pie, two of the region's classic recipes.

If you never say no to dessert, we don't think you'll be disappointed. Be sure to order peach melba, a delicious treat that's sure to satisfy your sweet tooth.

If you truly want to see the big pitcher, take the hopportunity to toss back a beer. Schooner rather than later! Terrible beer puns aside, make sure you try Emu Export, one of the best local brews.

Do you want something with a little more bite? Be sure to try Bundaberg Spiced Rum. Ask the barkeeper if it's nice in any mixed drinks. If that fails, order up a shot and enjoy it neat!

Keep your eye out for Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Great Southern Shiraz on the wine menus. They're popular local favourites for both connoisseurs and novices alike.

It might be time to pack up and go, but it doesn't have to mean for good. Why not save your spare Australian dollars for another getaway to this magnificent region?

Derby Airport (DRB) is the nearest terminal, 260 kilometres to the southwest. Make sure you leave plenty of time to get there.

"It's close to the river which is awesome, but it's a bit far from the city. Nothing much to do around the hotel. The staff at the counter didn't tell us where all the facilities are, and there is no information board anywhere. We need to ask to find them. Room is nice and roomy, also got free update ..."
