Holidays in Puise

Puise is a destination that has loads of cool stories to tell. If you think your life's been a bit humdrum lately, a trip here is the perfect answer!

The nation's capital city, Tallinn, is located around 100 kilometres to the northeast of Puise.

Does soaking up ocean views sound enticing? Plan a day trip to Parnu Beach or Laulasmaa Beach.

Venture beyond Puise and you'll see some lovely natural sights. Just 13 kilometres away, Matsalu National Park is a fabulous spot to recharge your batteries. Also consider checking out Panga Cliff, 9 kilometres away from Puise.

The best snow is always in the morning, so you'll want to set your alarm clock early the night before heading to Nomme Snow Park.

Do you like the sound of the Laanemaa Museum and Haapsalu Castle? These attractions are in Ridala, located just 11 kilometres northeast of Puise. Or perhaps St. Catherine Church and the Port of Kuivastu are more up your alley? To visit them, go to Vahtraste, 17 kilometres southwest.

Want to check out the Ungru Manor, the Kuursaal and the Ernst Enno Monument? Head along to Haapsalu, 19 kilometres to the north, and set up camp. These sights, along with the Estonian Railway Museum and the Communication Museum, are all nearby.

Experience the best part of winter by taking the youngsters cross-country skiing. Snow shoeing is another energetic activity the whole family can try.

Spend a few hours indoors looking at the treasures of the region's theaters and mansions.

Travel back in time with a trip to some castles and old towns. When it comes to understanding the historical significance of these structures, an experienced tour guide can offer some deeper insight.

If you'd like to learn more about the local beliefs, make your way to one or two churches. Even if you don't experience a spiritual awakening, there's a good chance you'll find some peace and quiet.

'There is no love sincerer than the love of food,' according to George Bernard Shaw, but add travel to the mix and it's a match made in heaven. You're invited to indulge in your two loves by eating and drinking your way around Estonia.

This region has its own cuisine centred on traditional ingredients. You'll discover pork and baltic herring are two staple elements in many of the meals.

When the locals talk to you about their favourite food, you could hear sult (pork) or rosolje (herring, beet and potato) uttered a few times. These well-loved dishes are part of the region's identity and ought to be on any foodie's must-eat list.

'Stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts', and we don't believe in coincidences. There's no tastier way to let your concerns melt away than with habelik taluneiu (rye bread and cream pudding), a sweet treat often found on dinner tables here.

What better way to learn about a place than by involving yourself in a day of national celebration? There'll be loads of festivities organised for Independence Day on the 24th of February.

With some preparation, making it to Lennart Meri Airport (TLL), the closest airport, won't be too difficult. It's 100 kilometres northeast of the centre of Puise.
