The only place to stay
The rooms are roomy with extremely comfortable beds (even the pull out couch) The staff could not be nicer and,as a nice touch, they give you a cell phone to use for local calls and texts. Finally, you can not beat the location. It’s right on the main shopping street and walking distance from pretty much everything in Reykjavík.

The front desk staff at the Alda were terrific. Each person who helped us was extremely helpful and successfully helped us figure out how to fit in all of the experiences we wanted. (Note: we travel independently and had not had an opportunity to book experiences ahead). Our only complaint is that our room was quite small and it was difficult to find a place to store our luggage so that it was not underfoot.

We had a wonderful stay at the property. You cannot beat the location on the quieter end of the street. Great restaurants and shops just steps away. The only con is the inability to control the temperature of the room.

Staff was very helpful with all of my questions. The room was spotless. Loved the knitted lamp cover and comfy chair. Would definitely stay here again. Location was fantastic for tours from bus stop #9, a 3 minute walk away.

Amazing hotel! Loved the breakfast buffet, the rooms were spacious, the jacuzzi and sauna. The staff was nice, the area was walkable with plenty of restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend

Very nice hotel. Everything was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. They stored our bags for us extra days while we were away as well. We had 2 nights here separated by 1 week. Our friends had a balcony where we could see the northern lights.

We booked our stay with Alda Hotel in Reykjavik on July 21, 2024. This was for our last night in Iceland which was October 17th. We arrive on check-in day of October 17th only to be told they over-booked and we got moved to a different hotel. They did send a notice on October 15th ( as if that makes a difference ) when we were on the other side of the country. Almost three months after we make our reservation we are informed of the hotel being fully booked. The Hilton we got moved to seemed as a downgrade. My wife and I can’t help but think we got moved because we purchased our stay through Expedia and at a discounted price. Still trying to understand the reason to sell a reservation, sit on it for almost three months before letting the customer know they over-booked. VERY UNHAPPY with Alda Hotel. At least we never have to worry about booking stays at their hotel in the future, (which is part of Hilton). Fortunately all the other hotels we stayed at in Iceland were wonderful and will highly recommend.
