Hey, we get it! You're sick of your boss and you need a holiday, yeah? So why not use some annual leave and drive around the breathtaking beaches, forests, mountains and active volcanos of Okinawa. Just base yourself in Ritcho and take it from there.

It sits 1,450 kilometres southwest of Japan's capital, Tokyo.

Be sure to pack a picnic hamper and a blanket so you can indulge in a relaxed bite by the water at Mission Beach or Kise Beach.

There are some pleasant natural sights outside of Ritcho. Why not venture 40 kilometres to Mount Yonaha? Alternatively, explore nature's artwork at the Yanbaru Wildlife Center, 40 kilometres away.

Grab your map and find your way to Kotohira Shrine. After that, you may like to visit Yoron Folk Village.

Travel 4 kilometres to the northeast and you'll come across Yoron. It's the home of some outstanding attractions, such as Akasaki Beach and the Southern Cross Center.

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium, the Ocean Expo Memorial Park and Nakijin Gusuku Castle are all within a stone's throw.
