We absolutely adored Cana Lua. Sandra is charming and wonderful, she was very reassuring throughout the booking process, and met us at the house to show us around. She could not do enough for us, she did some shopping we asked for on our arrival, and even gave us a pot of her delicious homemade plum jam. She arranged for a lady, lovely Noemi, to come and do some light cooking and give us domestic help.
The house is beautiful, with exquisite views. We are a family of six, and so we fitted perfectly. There is an upstairs bedroom with roof terrace and ensuite, and two lovely bedrooms downstairs. The house is cool and minimalist, with lots of doors opening out onto the lovely well-kept gardens, outdoor kitchen, seating area and pool. Everything is very well cared for and clean.
The house is isolated and peaceful, set in countryside far away from the built-up nightspots of Ibiza. Lizards play in the sunshine, the clouds roll across the sea in the distance, and birds enjoy the garden. Our toddler daughter loved playing on the shallow steps to the pool, and our teenage sons sunbathed and swam. The pool is unheated, and a touch chilly for my taste in April, but the kids enjoyed it. We lit a fire in the evening - Sandra leaves in plenty of wood.
Nearby Sant Josep is a lovely town with a good supermarket and nice tapas bar. We also went to Cala Vadella where there are several restaurants on the beachfront - during our visit in April, it was quiet and amazingly unspoilt. Also Cala D'Hort, and Cala Sa Calettta, where we had a great lunch with amazing views at the clifftop restaurant above the beach, Sa Caletta.
There is also a restaurant at the top of the lane which serves wonderful paella, called S'Espartar. In Ibiza town we visited an amazing tapas bar, Can Terra. My husband and I had dinner at the upmarket Can Berri Vell in nearby Sant Augusti on Sandra's recommendation.
To top it all, when I cracked the glass-topped coffee table in the lounge by putting a hot pan on it (yes - after a week of telling the children to be careful of things!), Sandra's partner came and replaced the glass immediately, and to my amazement they refused to take any money for it, saying: 'accidents happen'.
We hope to return, and I can't recommend this lovely villa and charming hosts highly enough - we had a great time. Thank you Sandra for a brilliant holiday!
