When I first arrived, I was told that the hotel would not honor the reservation I made months ago through Expedia. I booked a large double room. At check in, the hotel downgraded me to a tiny single room with a bed smaller than a twin. They refused to provide a refund of the price difference, but they provided a free dinner instead. The hotel had never contacted me in the months between the time I made the reservation and the time I checked in to inform me that my room was not available. If they had, I would have booked another room elsewhere. At 7 pm on the day of, however, it is far too late in a very remote area to find alternative accommodations. The hotel must have known this, but failed to tell me that my reservation had, in effect, been canceled.
After I checked in and went to sleep, another guest entered my locked room with a key and claimed it was her room. I screamed when I was suddenly awoken and the woman left before I could ask any questions. When I reported this to the hotel manager, she told me it was not possible for this to happen (guess I imagined it?) and everyone there is nice so I have nothing to worry about. The fact that this happened was appalling enough. The response from management was totally unacceptable. I have never had such a horrible experience from a hotel. Please for your own safety, never stay here.
