Bad First Day, but overall OK
We had a lovely stay, however, we've been sent to a different hotel on the first night due to booking the hotel via hotels.com. The receptionist insisted that we are not booked in their system, and therefore, was sent over to a much uglier and uncomfortable hotel nearby. This disrupted our first sightseeing day as we had to pack our luggage again to transfer back to Hotel Icon. They also provided the same breakfast every single morning (toasted bread, jam, coffee, cereals, muffin, orange juice)

Excellent subway station nearby, just use exit 6 of Jong ro3 station since the hotel is tucked in an alley and there are swarms of alleys in the area or the first time will be so hard to find even locals have a hard time helping with directions here while map apps will have you walking in circles. On the other hand, these awesome alleys are filled with crowded, authentic, charming eateries where natives are socializing until late so it is great to get away from the commercialized tourist zones and see a bit of what the locals do here at night.

Two of us stayed in a room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed for 4 nights at end of October 2018. I would highly recommend this hotel for the elevator facility and the locality within 10 minutes walk to food and subway station at budget hotel price. The one thing it can improve on is the hot water shower. It is not consistent and you get surprises as it can become too hot or too cold intermittently.

Four days in Seoul
The hotel is in a much more traditional area which is a good location but can be hard to navigate walking around sometimes. Very small rooms with fairly uncomfortable beds, but good value for the price. Nice it included a free breakfast.

Walking distance to Metro stations and Palace. Lady at the cafe/ dining area was helpful and nice - she will check and replenish the food and drink regularly. Squeaky bed frame & mattress was not comfortable. Room size was decent but toilet was small. Guy at check-in doesn't seem friendly.

Good budget hotel in a great location
The location is fantastic, easy walking distance to Insadong and the subway. Rooms are decent, following the philosophy of just what you need and nothing more to run up the price, which is perfect if it's what you're looking for. Breakfast is also pretty basic. The photos of the lobby and common areas taken by the professional photographer make it look way better than it does in person. They do have a nice little roof deck to hang out on.

Excellent location
Definitely will be back to icon hotel, good price, excellent location and the most important is very friendly front desk staffs. It’s close to everywhere, 10 minutes walking to Jongno 3(sam) ga station and 7 minutes to Anguk station, bus stops are close too, if you like walking it’s really easy to go to all historical area where bukchon village is in between the 2 big palaces Changdeokgung and gyeongbokgung, you even can walk to myeongdong. Many street food around and GS25 is just next door. Our big thanks to night shift front desk, he is a very kind and helpful person during our stay. 5 stars for him, but We forgot to ask his name.

Budget Hotel in a Good Location

Average Budget Hotel Option
This hotel is a bit difficult to find. Tucked away in some of the narrow alleyways of Seoul. However, the location is good next to a neighborhood full of local flavor and the subway stations within walking distance nearby. The room itself was small, mostly consumed by the two beds that were put together, and the mattresses were hard. We asked for another soft cushion at the front desk and that helped a bit with the comfort. The bathroom is tiny, but was very clean when we arrived. I liked that they had windows that you could open in the room and bathroom with screens on the outside. The staff were kind and friendly. The breakfast in the morning doesn't have much variety, but it has enough to get you going (eggs, bread, muffins, cereal, coffee). The hotel provides two bottles of drinking water each day. There's a rooftop terrace that has a cool view of the mountain. Good enough to explore Seoul by day and come back to fall asleep before the next day of sightseeing.

Convenient hotel
The hotel is near a subway and bus station. It's a bit difficult to find. When you take a shower the whole bathroom gets wet. The room and bathroom is a bit small but the price is reasonable. Walking distance to lots of restaurants and insadong shopping.
