Great location but very sadly we couldnā€™t use the lake cos of fires. Comfy bed; good aircon; shower base needs attention. Has bar fridge. Lake use would be nice.

There was no one at reception to greet us for check in so we went to the bar and we were ignored. When we asked to be checked in, it seemed an inconvenience to the staff member. The room was very small & cramped. The bed was uncomfortable and the throw on the bed was dirty. It felt cheap. The restaurant & bar were more inviting with lovely log fires and a view over the lake. We had dinner in the restaurant both nights and the food was delicious.

Location location when it comes to taking a pause whilst doing the Western Explorer. Rooms are very tidy and bedding comfortable. Staff a little reserved but this may be to do with the teams of mining crews that also use it as a base. You might be exposed to some colourful behaviour.

Property is old and dated. Only certain rooms have a view of the lake our room looked into other rooms. Reminded us of the lodge from Dirty Dancing. Happy hour at the bar was good value, staff very friendly, view was nice too.

Room was very clean. Staff in the restaurant and bar were very friendly and courteous. We had a great meal and we really enjoyed our stay.

Not worth $180.
For $180 a night, you would expect a lot more than this. Room was very clean, it was a room for 4, but didnā€™t have a table or chairs, only a 2 seater lounge, no microwave or toaster, no wardrobe, only a couple of coat hangers on the back of the main door. Bathroom has been renovated to a pretty good standard, but shower curtain rod is covered in rust, toilet paper holder is filthy, looks as if it has never been cleaned since the day it was installed.

The rooms are somewhat dated but comfortable enough to be ok. The shower and bathroom had problems with, would you believe, cold water but a work around was ok. The restaurant served good quality pub grub and the staff were friendly, funny and very accommodating. All in all, the place has a pleasant olde worlde country vibe. The scenery was magnificent. As a place to crash for a short stay I'd say it was ok as long as you don't demand too much.

This is our second time to stay here and as before, we enjoyed it. We love the peace and quiet, except maybe in the morning when we hear the staff going about dragging the trolley to clean the room/change the sheets perhaps. It would have been much better if we had access to the use of a microwave but it is negligible. We had our dinners in the restaurant and the food is good. However, being a light eater, I was able to order the kids' meal on the last night. The first night I felt guilty leaving a lot of leftovers. If we had a microwave I could have eaten them for brekky perhaps. In Japan, the hotels usually have microwaves for use by patrons in their lounge/common area (not hostels, standard hotels got them). Anyway, this is not a deal breaker. Staff were usually friendly exept for one lady from the kitchen who doesn't seem to like smiling. But she is quite attentive, always looking out to get the used plates,etc. The others, especially the guy at reception who was also at the bar taking orders, is very friendly and easy going. A good place to stay, a bit far from the chaos at Cradle Mountain!
