It lies 60 kilometres to the northeast of the nation's capital, Amsterdam.

It's no secret that time spent in nature makes you feel happier and healthier. With that in mind, why don't you venture 25 kilometres out of Urk to National Park De Weerribben? Oostvaardersplassen, just 35 kilometres away, is one more excellent option.

Make your stay a rewarding one with a historical tour of the Urk Monument.

Whether you'd like to learn more about the religious aspects of the area or just relax in the peaceful atmosphere, Kerkje aan de Zee is the place to go.

Are you passionate about sports? Then you should investigate the event schedule at Thialf Ice Stadium, located 35 kilometres to the northeast in Heerenveen.

If you're looking to do some exploring, add a day trip to Emmeloord to your plan. This place is 11 kilometres to the northeast and features Orchid Farm and de Orchideeen Hoeve. Want some more ideas?
