Positives: The hotel is well-located very close to the train and bus stations, and just a short walk to the Old Town. Breakfast was also decent. They do not have 24 front desk service, but the reception is good about answering text messages promptly (make sure you have WhatsApp; this may be problematic if you do not have wifi or international roaming plan)
Cons: The 5th floor does not have elevator access, and the hallways and rooms stink. My room had an awful mildewy odor, particularly as it was baking under the summer sun. Also, the shower and sink drained very slowly. Sheets were clean though. Also no AC, which can be problematic during hot summer days.
Overall, it was a decent hotel, but with some additional TLC it could be better, especially the horrible odor on the 5th floor. Front desk staff is typical Soviet style demeanor, but don't old that against them; they are prompt and responsive, and that's what matters.
