This is a grand 18th century hotel located in the heart of old town near the pier and historic sights. This hotel is currently under renovation. Appreciate the effort to update the hotel. Our room had a very strong smell from recent rennovation so the staff gratuitously moved us to a suite at no cost. The hotel also includes breakfast, afternoon snack, and light dinner.

The evening meal on the 2nd night was extremely poor that we left and visited a local restaurant which was disappointing considering the 1st nights evening meal was lovely.

The staff were outstanding and accommodating. They are doing renovations, so there is some construction noise and dust that goes with it. Morning breakfast outstanding!

Brilliant location and amazing food, the breakfast was gorgeous and the evening meal was plenty despite being "light". The staff were all lovely and very helpful, I wish I stayed longer to use the sauna more!

During our three nights stay to celebrate a special birthday, the hotel was in the midst of renovation. Unfortunately we didn't receive advance notice from the hotel. The next morning we were woken up by building work. The breakfast area was squeezed into one room with make do service trays for hot food. On speaking to reception, I was told I'm welcome to move to another hotel. There was no real courtesy in trying to make our stay comfortable. I'm still waiting to hear from their manager. The room is comfy but showing wear and tear. Room service is on request, I had no ideal making the bed could impact their carbon footprint. Overall, it's in a great location and it has great potential to be a great stay if the customer service improves.

Beautiful well situated hotel

Excellently situated hotel, super helpful staff. 3 off its floor and the dining room were being refurbished. We heard no noise in our room a little in dining area at breakfast but this didn't spoil our stay. Good breakfast selection and enjoyed light supper really didn't need anything else. Dont forget to visit the tower.

Wow just wow...amazing Hotel to stay in. The beds were super comfortable. The bus right at the door to get you to Bergen airport . Beautiful surrounds. Breakfast was good..not as much variety due to renovations, but still great. Light meals at night were delicious. And the staff went above and beyond. A huge shout out to Alejandro in the kitchen amazing, Satou your meals were delicious(would like to know the fish dish with the leeks and other vegetables?) and Stuan thankyou for the hot milk. Kamile your welcoming was excellent, Amalie your help was greatly appreciated and Mia thanks for your outstanding hospitality on our last day, you truly know your stuff. We can HIGHLY recommend this Hotel. 10/10

Property was under construction and we were not informed of this . Builders were everywhere. The staff were super friendly and this will be a fantastic hotel once finished . It’s excellent location makes it easy to board fjord cruise ship right opposite hotel and also flybussen stops right outside . If the renovations weren’t taking place I would have give. It 5 star reviews. The other thing was lack of storage in room very small narrow wardrobe and not one drawer to put clothes make up etc in . Other than that the lovely staff and fabulous location easy walking distance to bars and restaurants was fab

I would return to this hotel on a future trip

The hotel staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. I had an accident shortly after arriving in Bergen which necessitated our return home. The hotel extended our stay on a day by day basis while we rearranged flights. Breakfast and evening meal were included and was good. Note that the hotel is currently undergoing renovations but it was not so noisy as to be an unpleasant stay.

Excellent property. Great value. Some renos happening, but minimal noise and inconvenience. Very friendly staff. Great meals included in the price. I felt quite at home here as a solo traveller. I had a spacious twin room with bathtub and partial view of harbour and hillside houses. Charming.

Excellent stay at the Clarion!

Great stay! The staff was very accommodating. The hotel serves an inclusionary breakfast, tea time snacks, and a light dinner; all of which were delicious. The beds were super comfortable, my room was more than sufficient for my stay. Also, the hotel is centrally located in the waterfront.

We absolutely loved the food at Hotel Havnekontoret. Every day we had amazing breakfast and coffee options, and a lovely well-prepared dinner by the wonderful chefs. Our room was lovely, good temperature control (window that can open if you get too hot), and the amenities were great. Everything is within an easy walk from the hotel- we spent 5 days walking as much of Bergen as possible. This is a prime location! Thanks for making our honeymoon special!

We recently stayed at this hotel, and while the property itself is stunning and the location couldn't be more ideal, there were a few issues that detracted from our overall experience. First off, the location is truly unbeatable, nearby attractions, dining, and shops. The property itself is gorgeous – well-maintained with stylish, welcoming common areas. However, the room we booked was unfortunately very small. While we understand that city hotels often have compact rooms, this one felt particularly cramped, with not much space to move around comfortably. The biggest issue, though, was the shower. It leaked water all over the bathroom floor, creating a messy and unpleasant situation. Additionally, the service from the front desk was a bit underwhelming. While they weren’t exactly rude, they didn't go out of their way to be accommodating or helpful when we raised the issue about the leaking shower. We would have appreciated more proactive customer service, especially given the room issues.
