Poor choice for me.
The photos and ratings misled me here. I was looking for a cozy vibe. The room was the smallest I have ever stayed in, good condition but tiny. The noise from the street was awful, just awful. There were also several noisy patrons but I suppose that's not the hotel's fault. The neighborhood is centrally located but pretty sketchy. The staff were all super nice and helpful. Coffee shop was out of coffee beans. Restaurant eggs were poorly cooked, bacon you could read a newspaper through. The breakfast sandwich the second day was good. Ultimately I felt like I was at a youth hostel for adults, not the 'Hilton' experience I was expecting. Stay if you need the location or price but not if you are looking for a vibe or nice room.

This was my first trip to Washington, DC, and the team at Motto Hotel made me feel right at home from the moment I walked through the doors. Ranee and Bernadette at the front desk were incredibly welcoming and helpful during check-in, even recommending some fantastic local restaurants that made my stay extra special. I felt safe throughout my time there, and I loved the cozy, thoughtfully designed rooms. The housekeeping staff were all hardworking, accommodating women who went above and beyond to meet my needs. Well done, Motto Hotel! Thank you for a memorable experience.

What a cute little gem tucked in the Chinatown district of DC. It was so easy to walk to famous landmarks and lots of dining options for lunch/dinner for Vegans who are gluten free. Breakfast is a little tough. The crimson diner inside Motto offers a vegan egg breakfast, however they don't keep it in stock. Perhaps calling ahead to inform them might help? The staff is beyond amazing, super helpful. The place is clean and safe. Totally check out their rooftop bar! The only downside is that the walls are paper thin and a lot of guests don't know how to use their indoor voices.

Clean, Cozy and Compact! My brother and I shared a bunk room for one night. The room is small in sq ft space, think dorm size, but the room is modern, clean and comfortable. Staff was incredibly friendly upon checking in. Perfect if you’re in town checking out museums and such and not spending much time in the room itself. Didn’t try the bar or rooftop, but the lobby bar looked nice. Whiskey bar was a little loud for me, could hear it in our room on the 2nd floor. It was a Saturday night though! If I stayed again I’d try to see if I could get a higher floor for noise. Location is in Chinatown, lots of great restaurants of all sorts of global cuisines in walking distance. Generally the area seems safe but I dunno if I’d want to walk by myself at night. Doors are secure though with keycard access.

Convenient location - close to Metro stop and capital one stadium. Neighborhood felt safe and active at all times of day. A no frills micro-hotel which worked for me since I was at a meeting all day.
