Enourmous old rooms with character, 30 x 25 feet. 14 ft ceilings. Old decor on purpose (100 year old building). Comfy beds, marble bathroom with separate shower.

It was a Beautiful, historical property but they weren’t quite done remodeling our room. The separate toilet room didn’t have a mirror, electrical outlet, or towel bar. The shower/ tub room didn’t have outlets, either. The Room was large, which was a nice change of pace.

Had a lovely visit September 2024. Great room with canal view, well cleaned every day. Spa was great to revive me after a day of walking but steam room was out of action when I was there. Building is charming but could do with a bit of tlc in some areas.

The building is a jewel in the old part of Amsterdam. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Rooms are spacious. Ask to see the paternoster, a now very rare elevator.

Beautiful well maintained historic hotel near Amsterdam Centraal. Small but nice room with a very tall ceiling and a canal view. Large well appointed bathroom with double sinks, seperate bath and shower, and an actual hinged well-sealed shower door. What was a little off is that the hinged non-latching door to the bathroom was beautiful frosted glass with a clear (non-frosted) anchor design at eye level. This means that anybody standing outside the closed bathroom door could see somebody bathing or using the toilet. The room had a coffee maker and hot water heater with complimentary coffee and tea. Robes and slippers were provided and there was an iron, ironing board, safe, and refrigerator if you removed their mini-bar waters and Cokes. There was no complimentary daily bottled waters, unlike mostvof my other less expensive hotels on this trip. The bed was awful. The worst on my long 51-day trip. It had a king sized headboard but was made of two matresses with a huge canyon between. It had two unsecured matress pads that moved during sleep. The bottom sheet wasn't fitted and always quickly came loose. The bedding looked like it exploded every morning.

A slight misunderstanding with Irene in the dining room and a slow check in dropped our overall rating from excellent to good. However, Christopher , Isaac and others were more than excellent and helpful. Especially Christopher who was delightful to chat with when he wasn’t busy opening doors and delivering luggage. He made our stay at the Grand Amrath wonderfully memorable. Thank you, Christopher!!

Great hotel
Beautiful hotel in a great location with nice facilities. The SPA is very nice with plenty of choice in ways to relax! Staff very friendly and helpful. Courteous and genuinely happy to help with any enquiries, also gave some great recommendations for places to visit. Room was big, clean and had everything you need.

Breakfast buffet is exceptional. Everything so fresh and well cooked. I’m a vegetarian and options are clearly marked with endless choices. Very comfortable beds. Housekeeping twice a day with little treats. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I will definitely stay here again

Great hotel and friendly staff. Rooms are huge! Very big hotel. Parking is available for 75 euro, not sure if it’s onsite or taken to a local parking facility as the staff take the car for you. Central location everything in walking distance. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to use the spa but it looked nice and could have used after check out too.

Stay out of room #5!
We stayed 3 nights in 2 different reservations. The first night was good. But the 2nd and 3rd night were terrible in room #5. We tried to move rooms but were unable to. When checking out, I also shared this discomfort and they said they receive a lot of complaints in this room. It is located next to the service elevator and all of the carts bang against the wall where the bed is located. We did not sleep in this loud, vibrating room.
