It lies 140 kilometres northeast of Amsterdam, the national capital of Netherlands.

A trip to Paterswolde, 14 kilometres to the northwest, is on the list of many. There's plenty to keep you busy here, like the Groninger Museum and Grote Markt.

What could be more relaxing than enjoying a cool breeze next to the water? Take the family to Hollum Beach or Nes Beach if you're looking for a great day out.

We all know that spending time in the great outdoors is good for your health. Keeping that in mind, why wouldn't you venture 45 kilometres out of Anloo to Papenburg Zeitspeicher? National Park Drents-Friese Wold, just 30 kilometres away, is another popular choice.

Get set for some exciting soccer action at Euroborg in Groningen, 20 kilometres away. Remember to cheer on home team the FC Groningen by wearing a few pieces of green and white!
