For an extremely fancy building, it’s very old school and basic inside. It was nice and clean and good sized rooms, but all other facilities were very basic. Perfect for a budget trip.
Front desk people were incredibly polite and helpful. The location is excellent for getting onto trains in and out of Auckland. It is located in a historic building that is just beautiful. We dine at the Indian restaurant in the lobby of the old train station building and the meal was very good. We also walked around the neighborhood and did some shopping for food to take on the train. There are many restaurant options in the neighborhood. It was very convenient for us to get on the train to Wellington, which is only a 5 minute walk away.
Stayed one night prior to catching the Northern Explorer from the Strand Station. Overall we liked our stay in this wonderful space. The building provides short and long term accommodation which gives it a slightly odd feel. Our room was very well equipped with new fittings, it was a little functional despite some nice touches. The view from our ground floor window was rather unkempt. The laundry was large and good value. There were plenty of places to eat in Parnell which is only a short walk away.
Spacious rooms with good amenities. Friendly staff. One of the best budget hotels we have stayed at. Very attentive staff who went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Initially a bit dubious what we had booked when walking towards our room but once in our room we were impressed. Good size living and sleeping area and bathroom appeared recently renovated. Easy walk to town. Ideal venue if staying to attend concert at Spark Arena.
Unique setting. Arrived in evening, checked-in through gated desk. Very noisy with kids playing in station ? Long term renters or emergency housing with a shared kitchen for their cooking. Room ok - recently renovated but black mould and cobwebs in windiw. View unkep back yard. Booked 2 nights but left after 1 night. Seemed better by daylight but wouldn't return. Sorry, don't like placing a review like this. Staff however were good.
