Sadly this property flatters to deceive. On the face of it, The Lodge is a trendy boutique hotel with street art on the walls.
However, our room was ill-conceived - a superking bed is great if the room is big enough, but in an ‘average’ size room it meant it felt cramped. What’s worse is that the room was so dusty and stuffy that we ended up sleeping with a window wide open despite it being a cold March night. Paint on the ceiling was peeling off, bathroom badly designed, shower faulty and a questionable room ‘design’ throughout (why put a small and empty room fridge inside a big wooden box to make it double its size and block access to a window?
Having a room inside the The Lodge itself was noisy… you could hear those in the adjoining room and footsteps above, below and outside.
In fairness, the staff were friendly and breakfast good.
This hotel design needs a serious rethink and refresh.
