Holidays in Central

Food is great, wine is better, but travel truly hits the spot! So isn’t it about time you sunk your teeth into the Hong Kong neighbourhood of Central? You'll be sharing the city's footpaths with around 7,000,000 friendly locals. Try to get to know one or two of them! Once you've touched down at Shenzhen International Airport and plucked your bags from the carousel, Central is a commute of 55 kilometres to the southeast. From central Hong Kong, it's located 0.2 kilometres southwest.

Central is a sightseer's dream. A range of the city's top attractions are strewn near this neighbourhood, including Soho and the International Finance Centre. You should also experience the Madame Tussauds and Lan Kwai Fong. For a better perspective of this vibrant city as a whole, spend time in the close-by neighbourhoods of Sheung Wan and Possession Street.

Visiting iconic sights such as Ocean Park is one of the main reasons many of us travel. From Central, it's not difficult to get to. It sits just 4 kilometres to the southeast.

The centre of the city also features a multitude of sights to feast your eyes upon, such as Pacific Place and the University of Hong Kong. Alternatively, have a look around Victoria Park and Flower Market.

On holiday without the kids in tow? The Happy Valley Race Course and Jumbo Kingdom ought to be right up the top of your itinerary.

Some interesting cultural sites are waiting for you. Start off at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Edge Gallery, the Hong Kong Arts Centre and the Grotto Fine Art.

If you possess a passion for the arts, don't forget to visit the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the Asia Art Archive, the University Museum and Art Gallery and the Cattle Depot Artist Village. Walk around and if one of the works impresses you, ask the staff for information about its creator.

There's no saying what you'll find among the engaging exhibits of the Hong Kong Space Museum, the Dialogue In The Dark, the Police Museum and the Hong Kong Science Museum. If you don't want to miss anything, see if you can hop on a guided tour.

You can't beat the buzz of excitement when a live performance is about to start. Take your seat and wait for the curtains to rise at the City Hall Concert Hall, the Sunbeam Theatre, the Yau Ma Tei Theatre and the Ko Shan Theatre.

Finding kid-friendly places is often the number one priority when holidaying with the family. Check out the Victoria Peak Tram, the Hong Kong Central Library and the City Hall Public Library.

Are you holidaying with the kids but stuck for ideas of things to do? Middle Road Children’s Playground, Lung Fu Shan Country Garden and the Hong Kong Observation Wheel are some nearby places the whole family can enjoy.

Put your phone away, disengage from the strains of modern life and bask in the serenity of the outdoors at Sky 100, Repulse Bay Beach, High West Peak and Lion's Pavilion.

The Hong Kong Zoo and Botanical Gardens and the Charter Garden can give you insights into the animals and plants that inhabit the local area.

Something special about this place is its nearby green spaces. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, you won't struggle to find a place to take a short break. Kowloon Park, Fa Hui Park, Kowloon Walled City Park and Hong Kong Park are some good options.

A holiday is the perfect opportunity to do some window shopping and grab some gifts to take back home. Don't forget to saunter through Habour City, Nathan Road Shopping District, Ladies' Market and Times Square Shopping Mall!

Bank of China Tower, the Avenue of Stars, International Commerce Centre and Government House can give you a glimpse back into the area's past.

Whether you want to learn more about the region's traditions and customs or simply soak up the serene atmosphere, get going to the Man Mo Temple, the Tin Hau Temple, the Kowloon Mosque and Islamic Centre and Hong Kong St. John's Cathedral.
