Holidays in Chinatown

Bring your love of adventure along with that well-used suitcase. It's time to see what Chinatown is all about! A fabulous Boston 'hood, it's a brilliant place to experience another side of the capital of Massachusetts. Want to meet a local or two? Won't be a problem. Around 600,000 people live in Boston. Chinatown is 1 kilometre south of the centre of the city. If you're coming in from Logan International Airport, grab a taxi and head 4 kilometres to the southwest.

A good deal of this city's leading sights are sprinkled near Chinatown, and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and Harvard Square are two of the very best. After taking a look at those, you'll want to head onwards to Copley Place and Boston Common. While you're in town, think about exploring a few other neighbourhoods to see more of what Boston has to offer. Theatre District and Downtown Crossing are good recommendations that are within close reach.

If somehow you were unaware of the USS Constitution Museum, you're in for a treat. This internationally renowned attraction is located just 3 kilometres north of Chinatown.

There are stacks of reasons why so many people make a beeline for the centre of Boston. The Boston University and the Harvard University are just a couple of them. The Northeastern University and the World Trade Center should also be part of any outing downtown.

Holidaying without the children? The Samuel Adams Brewery, the Harpoon Brewery and Cambridge Common should be right up the top of your schedule.

The area's various cultural places, such as the Mapparium, the Boch Center, the American Repertory Theater and the Artisans Asylum, can't be missed!

Nothing soothes the soul and stirs the imagination like time out in a gallery. Take the opportunity to reflect as you examine the impressive works showcased at the Institute of Contemporary Art, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Harvard University Art Museums and the Museum of the National Center of Afro American Artists.

Check for any special events that might be scheduled before heading on over to study the displays and exhibits at the Museum of Science, the Boston's Children's Museum, the Harvard Museum of Natural History and the MIT Museum.

What nicer way to top off a day's sightseeing than with something to eat and a show? Check the programme at the Orpheum Theater, Boston Opera House, Boston Symphony Hall and House of Blues Boston.

Kids tend to have fun in rather unlikely locations. Take a camera and capture them at New England Aquarium, the Boston Public Library, the Boston Athenaeum and the Mary Baker Eddy Library.

If the sun is shining, get some fresh air and enjoy an afternoon among nature at Castle Island, the Back Bay Fens, Liberty Wharf and Spectacle Island.

One of the most appealing things about this suburb is its nearby public parks. In the midst of all the action, you'll find plenty of places to stretch out in the grass. Boston Public Garden, Columbus Park, Charles River Esplanade and Boston National Historical Park are great options.

Stock up on the basics or look for a few unique mementos. You can get everything you're after at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Cambridgeside Galleria, The Shops at Prudential Center and Printing Office of Edes and Gill.

The surrounding historic places will provide you with a glimpse into the area's fascinating past. The Bunker Hill Monument, Paul Revere House, Massachusetts State House and Prudential Tower are sure to impress.

Whatever your faith, it's worth going to Old North Church, Trinity Church Boston, Park Street Church and Old South Church.

Come and check out the Boston University Terriers or the Boston University Terriers bid for glory at their home venue of Agganis Arena. If your trip doesn't coincide with a game, check the concert lineup and get ready to rock out!
