Bison Escape... secluded & peaceful! Mini donkeys 🫏

Bison Escape is a part of Buffalo Creek Vacations, which is less than a three minute drive to the main ranch. The legend has been told that on certain nights of the year and when the moon is just right, the Buffalo Creek Vacations bison and their llama friends escape from their normal stomping ground to get away from it all. While at Bison Escape, they enjoy true tranquility and relaxation at this private getaway.

Buffalo Creek Vacations is where the buffalo really roam on this private 65 acre little piece of heaven tucked away in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. Whether watching the sunrise over the mountain peaks while the Smoky Mountains clear up for a beautiful day, or setting your sights on our herd of buffalo coming for their morning oats from our viewing platform at the feeding corral, you will not be disappointed. Meanwhile, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or cocoa on the large front porch of this log cabin, or enjoy a refreshing beverage after a long soak in the hot tub!

If you are looking for a quiet 'get away from it all' retreat, this is it! Enjoy long hikes on the main ranch property, fishing within walking distance from the log cabin or take a trip into town to do some shopping or antiquing. Bison Escape features easy vehicular access on a flat road. As with all Buffalo Creek Vacation rental cabins, the kitchen comes fully stocked with all cooking supplies essential to preparing a great family meal.

Once over on the main area of Buffalo Creek Vacations, children will love the hike through the woods to the play area, The BC Corral! This custom designed area has everything from swings, zip line, slides, teeter totter, cargo nets, rock wall & even a horse shoe pit for the adults! The kids will love it here!

A vacation at the Bison Escape is surely one that your family will always enjoy looking back on!

My family spent an amazing two weeks at Bison Escape. We loved it so much that we immediately booked it for the same two weeks next year before we even left.

What a cool place!
Really enjoyed our stay. The property is well laid out and has plenty to do for all age ranges. Donkeys, goats & sheep to serenade you and interact with. Bison feeding and viewing is about 1mi away, and was fun and informative. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful as well. Overall the farm is just a ton of fun for the whole family.

Great family vacation spot
We enjoyed our time at Bison Escape. The goats and donkeys that surround the property provided lots of entertainment. (Added bonus-witnessing the birth of a baby donkey!) The cabin was as described-actually much larger than expected. I wish it was closer to the main property. We thought we would be able to walk/hike to the main property but you would have to walk along a main road with lots of traffic so we had to drive. Fishing in the river near by is a no go (too much current and no real area to fish). The stocked pond that is several miles up the road and was recommended, was expensive and did not allow for catch and release. However, they did recommend a park (Max Patch) up the mountain which was actually quite beautiful- Had a pond for fishing and a trail for hiking. The drive up it a bit nerve-racking but that’s the mountain life! My negatives-the game room had a dart board but no darts and the foosball table needs some work. The upstairs shower had some mild mildew present in the shower (in the cracks of the surround) and the curtain rod would not hold tension so when you pulled the curtain back it would occasionally fall. The washing machine had a lot of rust to the inside surround so you had to be cautious when washing clothes. Nothing major or that would prevent me from recommending this property.

Spring break vaca.
Pros: Happy with the beautiful scenery that surrounds this roomy cabin. Donkies, goats & cows greeted us Upon arrival. Kitchen well stocked with everything needed to cook a good meal. Hot tub was nice. Cons: bathrooms were very dirty. Suite master bath has mold surrounding the tub and hair everywhere. We all used the shower in upstairs room. That shower was dirty too. Hair everywhere. Dust and dirt throughout the entire house. Floors were dirty. Large sofa is broken so we couldn't sit on it. Just the chase and round chair to sit on. Sofas had dog hair and crumbs from someone eating on it. Towels smelled funny and are torn. Cabin needs an upgrade and good cleanup throughout. I paid alot of money to stay here and I was a bit disappointed that have to pay so much money for cleaning. But the job isn't done properly. But We made the best of our stay.

Amazing property
We had such an incredible stay with Buffalo Creek’s Bison Escape. The house was awesome, the staff was incredible and the whole experience was just phenomenal. We can’t wait to go back. Actually we didn’t even want to leave. The Donkey coral was so cool having them in our front yard. They were so excited to have friends over, they are so friendly. The animals on the farm are so well cared for it was a joy to see all of them. I recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in Maggie Valley/Clyde area. Easy access and such an amazing place

INCREDIBLE!!
From the moment my family walked into this beautiful log cabin, we fell in love & we all agreed it will be a yearly tradition! The attention to detail was impeccable! Everything was done so tastefully. The kids enjoyed looking up at the stars while in the hot tub. We had hours of fun w/ challenging games of foosball & darts! Grandma even one once!! The s'mores every night created memories for my kids that they will cherish for a lifetime!! I can't forget to mention to go see the bison feeding! Wow...what magnificent creatures they are!! You are right there next tom them!! Great time was had by all & we are already thinking of what week to come back next summer! Thanks Buffalo Creek for making such an amazing place that we can retreat to!! The LaRoose Family!

So incredibly amazing!
When I showed my kids the cabin I chose online...they were super excited!!! They just loved the idea of being on the bison ranch. Our cabin was clean & super cozy & decorated so tastefully!! The cousins all enjoyed the game room & every night was spent in the hot tub by the adults!! We will make this a yearly tradition! The folks at Buffalo Creek were really friendly too!! We met Harold, he fed the bison & then his wife I think, (Harriet was her name), rides the tractor & she got us the bison meat. Every time we had a question, Cheryl responded very fast. We will surely be telling our friends about Buffalo Creek Vacations. Thanks for making it possible to make lasting memories!!

Very nice cabin, very nice & quiet location.
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very nice, clean, and quiet. Very relaxing. We went to Cherokee one day and Asheville the next, it was only a 45 minute drive to both. The owners were easy to get in touch with and really helpful. On the day we were leaving our battery was dead and we were stuck in the driveway. They came out to help us. Great cabin, great location, great owners, great experience.

Robert C., Cincinnati Area

Family friendly with Easy Access
PROS: Plenty of space, very comfortable bedding, in-house entertainment options for entire family, nice hot tub Cons: Odd living room seating with no end tables; Poorly maintained pots and pans; lots of "fees" and extra duties like taking the trash down the road Loved the beds and the local horses are very friendly. This was a great base of operations to the local shops and not bad to Asheville/Biltmore area. Never were able to see bison and in spite of name, they never come to the Bison Escape property. (We even tried to see them at feeding time as suggested but they were no where to be found.)
