So disappointed with this hotel and experience. Not at all what it was described as. We elected to leave on Day 1 of 5, and we were not able to get a refund.
I stayed in one of the private rooms. It was very clean and it had everything I needed. The room was a little small, but comfortable. The hotel grounds are pretty and very clean. There is also a very nice small pool. The staff were friendly and answered any questions we had. I would definitely stay here again.
Reception is very slow and doesn't seem to care much that you are standing there. Nice to have a private room and the main area was amazing with lots of hammocks and music and great to meet people. Amazing vibe. Would come back.

Bad service
They didnt find my booking when I arrived and I had to switch room and it was trouble all through the whole stay. The receptionist gave bad service and it was plenty of guest having problem with their bookings.
The employees were very friendly and provided me with all information that I needed.

First time surfing!
This hotel is really nice, the WiFi is always good. Some improuvement migh be done in the kitchen and with the chairs around the pool. We rented some surf many times and the staff is friendly. The bar at the hotel is nice. This is a really good hotel to try surfing. The waves for beginner are right beside the hotel!
It is currently a construction site (see photo below). There is no breakfast, however, you are patronised to have one at their restaurant which is OK. Close to the beach but no direct access. Check in time 3pm - and while was pretty quiet in the rainy season the receptionist would not let me check in at 2 pm because my $20 bed (when decent hostels around charge $9) may not be ready - although check out is at 11am because as she explained, the people that *potentially* are occupying the room *may* have a late check out... That conversation took place _without_ her even checking if it is the case. However, I witnessed other guest being checked in earlier. What a joke ... Although I was given a room upgrade, next morning at 10 am I had an awkward visit by the cleaning staff asking me what time I will go. Check out at 11 am...

Really fun place but the rooms were tiny (not like the pictures on their website)
The place was great! The location was amazing being steps away from the beach and many places to eat. The pool was nice and the vibe was fun. My only complaint was that when I booked online, I was told I paid in full but they tried to charge me an additional $80 when I arrived. We were able to work it out but I've heard this is common for Selina's.

Nice place
Great hotel, only negative was the water stopped working for a couple hours. Loved the vibe and the surfing lessons were killer. cheap delicious breakfest.
My stay at Selina Santa Teresa was great, Ksenia was very helpful and friendly. She was very knowledgeable about Santa Teresa and the country in general and she gave great recommendations for my stay. I did the Humpback Whale Watching, and able to see some whales and sea turtles, and swam in the open seas.
We had a lovely stay at Selina, it is right next to the beach and is a paradise for surfers. The hostel is really sociable and has a lovely restaurant. There is a pool and sun beds. We stayed in a private room for two with shared bathroom which was clean and well kept. Santa Teresa itself is great - lots of bars and restaurants, great for veggies and vegans - I was in heaven with all the smoothies and quinoa salads! Staff were helpful and helped us when we lost our camera. Overall would really recommend Selina - great value for money and a really fun experience.

Good location, poor maintenance.
It is close to the beach, like most hostels in ST, and there is airconditioning even in the dorms, but the pool was disgusting and the bathroom trash continuously overflowing with the dirty tissue (which is pretty nasty considering you cant flush any tissue in CR). The matresses are terrible and sink in the middle after one nights sleep if a big hole isnt already there from the previous person (i am 140lbs). I feel like they made it "cute" on the outside, but essentially didnt follow through with quality and maintenance which also doesnt make sense why everything isore expensive there on top of it!
The lobby, the restaurant, the rooms and bathrooms were all well maintained and clean. The food was also very good and the pool was nice and warm. The biggest advantage for this place is its location: the beach is less than 200m away from the hostel's exit, there is a small supermarket less than 200m away, and there are at least 5 other restaurants and cafes which are less than 300m away from the hostel. The staff was also very pleasant and helpful when the room we booked was occupied by someone else, but the alternative was far better than what we initially reserved.
