This is a lovely hotel set in pretty grounds.
The spa area is nice, with jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a really decent size pool. Seating area looking out over the river is unique, but too small and crammed full of sunbeds. Toiletries etc are rather basic.
Bar had great local craft beers, wine list was being updated. Menu looked good but we opted for the restaurant.
The waterwheel restaurant is a fine dining place - we had some fabulous dishes and some very odd, not so fabulous dishes. The tuna was amazing. The restaurant itself lacks the special extra touches: fresh bread/amuse bouche/petit fours etc I’d expect.
Breakfast was standard hotel fare, done well and service with a smile. Coffee was only filter, which was disappointing.
Room was in a barn, very pleasant, compact. Comfy bed, good facilities.
While the hotel is very near to a main road, you don’t hear it at all.
I’d stay again: it’s a cut above a holiday inn, but it’s not a super fancy place, price point is reasonable for what you get.
