Holidays in Jing'an

"I regret spending money on travel," said no one ever. So grab your passport and get ready to do it all over again in Jing'an, Shanghai! With so many places to roam and things to keep you busy, it's not hard to see why 22,300,000 people have made this prominent city home. After you've skidded to a halt at Hongqiao International Airport and picked up your gear, Jing'an is a commute of 10 kilometres to the east. You'll find this terrific 'hood 3 kilometres west of central Shanghai.

This city is brimming with awesome things to do, and you'll discover many of them near Jing'an. It's difficult to pick the best sights, but the Bund and the Jingan Temple are a couple you should not miss. The gotta-see sights of Jin Mao Tower and Xintiandi are also on your doorstep. While you're here, consider checking out other neighbourhoods to appreciate more of what Shanghai offers. Jingan Villas and Yandang Leisure Street are good suggestions that are a short distance away.

If you're up for touring a few of the highlights in central Shanghai, make your way to French Concession and Nanjing Road Shopping District. You shouldn't head back to your hotel without dropping into the Shanghai Museum and Oriental Pearl Tower as well.

Need a bit of time away from the little ones? Find a babysitter and head out to Paramount, Three on the Bund, Huxinting Tea House and the Shooting Club.

Call on a few cultural sites to gain a deeper understanding of the area. M50 Arts Community, the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Centre, the Shanghai Sculpture Space and the Hong Merchant Gallery come highly recommended.

Occasionally an artwork can inspire you so much that you just have to learn about its background. See if the staff can brief you about the works at the MOCA Shanghai, the China Art Palace, the Liu Haisu Art Gallery and the Leo Gallery.

From interactive exhibits to impressive objects and artefacts, museums have something for everyone. If the weather turns nasty, why not head over to the Shanghai Museum of Arts and Crafts, the Shanghai Railway Museum, the Lu Xun Museum and the Shanghai Post Museum?

The hallmark of an excellent show is often how deafening the applause is at the end. Watch the audience rise to their feet at the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Shanghai Acrobatic Theatre, the Lyceum Theatre and ERA Acrobats.

Kids are often marvellous travel mates, especially if you go to awesome places! For an exciting family day out, visit Old Chinese City, the Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium and the Shanghai Public Library.

If you’re looking for something a little more exciting to do with the little ones, we recommend you check out Changfeng Ocean Park, Jǐnjiāng Amusement Park, Chocolate Happy Land and Great World.

Put your phone down, disengage from the worries of the modern world and discover the beauty of Mother Nature at the Yu Yuan Garden, the Yuyuan Garden, Huangpu River and the Mandarin Garden.

An appealing feature of this suburb is its nearby green spaces. In the midst of the hustle and bustle, you won't struggle to find a place to take a short walk or read a book. Pudong Riverside Promenade and Park, Zhongshan Park, Jing An Park and Fuxing Park are great options.

The shopping experience is different for everyone. Whether you're after something specific or just doing a bit of impulse buying, you'll love it at Westgate Mall, Metro City, Fabric Market and Plaza 66.

Learn some lessons from the past at one or two of the area's time-weathered sites, such as Shanghai World Financial Center, Customs House, Grand Gateway and the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum.

If you're intrigued by religious sites, you ought to visit the Jade Buddha Temple, the City God Temple, St. Ignatius Cathedral and the Shanghai Confucian Temple.

Are you a fan of soccer? Then you'll want to take some red and white with you to excitedly cheer on the Shanghai East Asia FC at Shanghai Stadium.
