Hotels in Joetsu

Life tip: Get up, walk around, book a Niigata hotel, head to the airport, get on a plane, never return. Or something to that effect. While it's pretty difficult to stay right in the centre, there is some accommodation not too far away. Pick from 2 options within 10 kilometres of downtown Joetsu.

A couple of the most central hotels available, the Hotel Route-Inn Jyoetsu and ART HOTEL Joetsu are great places to chillax with a movie after a day of adventures.

You may like to have a look at some other accommodation spots, such as the Nozawa Grand Hotel or the Kawamotoya. The former is located 25 kilometres from the centre, and the latter is 25 kilometres away. If these aren't your style, we'd recommend the Address Nozawa, which is 25 kilometres from town.

Looking for more to do? Spend a few hours discovering the Mount Myoko and Ikenotaira Onsen. You'll find them in Myoko, 25 kilometres to the southwest of Joetsu. If you're keen to visit Myoko, consider the Mont Cervin and Kyukamura Myoko. Alternatively, you could stay in Nagaoka, 60 kilometres to the northeast of Joetsu, where you can choose from the Hotel Route-Inn Nagaoka Inter and Hotel Route-Inn Nagaoka Ekimae. The Hokuetsu Boshin Museum and Yukyuzan Park are popular attractions to explore while in Nagaoka.

Yuzawa sits 50 kilometres from Joetsu. It offers a sweet selection of hotels, including the Hotel Futaba and Family House Akashiya. Tourist attractions in and around Yuzawa include Kagura Tashiro Ski Resort and Kagura Ski Resort.

Such a wonderful and unique experience ! The owner greeted us outside the door with a warm welcome and also on our departure was there to say good bye. The entire staff was so kind and courteous. Marina, especially went out of her way to help us throughout our stay. We chose to book the private onsen room and it was well worth the extra charge. We also opted to have the traditional Japanese dinner. Again, such a unique and amazing experience. We were asked to choose from a beautiful selection of yukatos/kimonos upon our arrival to wear to our dinner. And of course don’t miss the snow monkeys! It is a short train ride, but then quite a long walk uphill and a further beautiful hike to get there. (We did see taxis dropping off people to the top but it would still be half an hour easier hike to arrive there ). Worth it !
