Holidays in Manoa

Bring your love of adventure along with that well-travelled backpack. It's time to see what Manoa is made of! A fabulous Honolulu 'hood, it's an awesome place to experience a different side of the Hawaii capital. Honolulu is home to around 370,000 people. Try to hang out with a few of them! Getting to Manoa from Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is easy. Just hop in a taxi and venture 10 kilometres east. From there, you'll be sitting 4 kilometres from downtown Honolulu.

Get out your map and mark a circle around Aloha Tower and Diamond Head, two fantastic sights conveniently close by. A few other attractions that are worth pulling out your camera for are the University of Hawaii at Manoa and Ala Moana Center.

The USS Missouri Memorial is one of the most famous attractions of Honolulu. Reaching it shouldn't be hard, as it's located just 11 kilometres from the centre of the city.

The centre of the city also features a range of excellent sights to feast your eyes on, such as the Honolulu Zoo and Waikiki Aquarium. Iolani Palace and Hawaii State Capitol are a few more of the area's greatest draws.

Some interesting cultural attractions are within easy reach. Start off at the Hawaiʻi Heritage Center, the Kumu Kahua Theatre, the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i and the Manoa Valley Theatre.

While you might be able to see a lot of art online these days, there's nothing like experiencing the real thing. Get a glimpse of the area's creative side at the Honolulu Museum of Art, the Hawaii State Art Museum, the Honolulu Museum of Art Spalding House and the John Young Museum of Art.

If you luck out and get stuck with some miserable weather, seek shelter in the Fort DeRussy, the U.S. Army Museum of Hawai'i, the Lucoral Museum and the Honolulu Police Department's Museum. The captivating collections will be sure to keep your brain buzzing and your clothes dry!

Sitting down and watching a first-rate show can be a thrilling experience. Reserve your tickets at the Hawaii Theater, Neal S. Blaisdell Center, the Hawaii Opera Theater and the Kennedy Theatre for a memorable night out.

Can you distinguish your birdie from your eagle and your wood from your wedge? Whether you're a seasoned pro or a novice, golf is a game for everyone! You can tee off here at the Ala Wai Golf Course and the Ko'olau Golf Club.

Children can be great travel mates, particularly if you go to the right attractions! For a memorable family day out, head to the Hawaii Children's Discovery Center and the Doris Duke Theatre.

Shut down your phone, log off from the stresses of the modern world and soak up the serenity of the outdoors at the Hawaii Nature Center, Ala Wai Yacht Harbor, Kapena Falls Trailhead and Judd Trail.

Get your legs moving at Magic Island, the Foster Botanical Garden, the Lili'uokalani Botanical Garden and Makiki Forest Recreation Area. A long trek through any one of these green reserves will reinvigorate the senses.

Pack a tasty picnic and invite a couple of friends down for an afternoon in one of the relaxing green spaces nearby. Take your pick from Ala Moana Beach Park, Queen Kapiʻolani Regional Park, Lyon Arboretum and Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.

Sometimes the simplest way to meet the locals is by checking out the shops. Make sure you drop in at Royal Hawaiian Center, Kaka‘ako Farmers’ Market, Kapi'olani Community College Farmers' Market and Ward Village Shops.

The King Kamehameha Statue, National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, the Bishop Museum and the Hawaiian Mission Houses are bound to impress visitors with an interest in history. Do some research beforehand so you can really appreciate these fascinating sites.

St. Augustine by-the-sea Catholic Church, Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, Cathedral of St. Andrew and the Kuan Yin Temple offer visitors an opportunity to understand the region's religious side.
