The redeeming quality of this bygone-era inn is the service staff - from the beginning, all of the staff we interacted with were warm and helpful - 10/10!
However, the staff don't have much control over the condition of the property/rooms which were certainly a disappointment. None of the common space/lounge areas were open on the first floor, were just filled with stuff looking like a storage unit, this was the first thing we saw walking up!
The elevator was out of order, we had to lug all of our bags up 3 flights of stairs ourselves. Rooms are not updated and hardly comfortable. The wood floor was STICKY. No mini fridge. Furniture very old and sitting chair was covered in unpleasant stains.
And as a cherry on top, you can hear everything, absolutely everything, in neighboring rooms - zero privacy.
The historical aspect of the hotel was wonderful. Obviously it will have issues with a house that old. Single pane wood windows. Drafty. Extension cords all over the place. Bathroom door would not open all of the way because it hit the vanity. Only a shower. Tub faucet knobs had been removed. I should have read the amenities more closely. Pics showed a bar and breakfast. It has neither. Elevator out of order and apparently has been for quite awhile. Bed was ok. It is a very old house so it is very noisy. It is a great location. Staff was very nice. With all that being said. The only thing that bothered me was no bar & no breakfast.
The place was beautiful & free parking was a plus. The staff were super friendly. The only downside was the mattress was inverted and made for an uncomfortable night of sleeping. It was super quiet & I love that. It was nice for a historic place.
Wish them luck in fixing this place up, but it's pretty run down, would definitely stay there again if the price matched the property. We liked the place it was just overpriced for the quality of the room and the run-down appearance of the property. Good location!
I stayed at the in for 2 nights. The only complaint that I have is that the Wi-Fi signal was non existent on the second floor. Neither my phone nor my iPad would connect unless I was in the lobby. It was a bit inconvenient for me, but I would imagine this would be unacceptable if the guest had actual business to conduct from their room. Other than that the stay was wonderful. I loved everything about the inn. It had great charm and character, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was nice and hot. Where the inn really excelled was in its staff. I met several women behind the desk during my stay, and all were helpful, professional, and super friendly.

We love this place and this was our third year in a row of staying here. I would have awarded 5 stars but the elevator was out of service (again) so accessibility for my wife and luggage to our second floor room was difficult.
In the future, I will be sure to discuss room options, accessibility-wise with them beforehand, they are extremely helpful. Keep in mind the historic rooms are a little quirky, but nicely furnished. Again I encourage you to call before hand and they can walk you through what the rooms have and don't have.
It is a great location within short walking distance to downtown attractions and restaurants. And a very short drive or medium length walk to the awesome Gulf Maritime Museum! Overall a great value and free parking to boot.
Old downtown area Mobile is lovely with the old oaks and public squares.
I checked in after midnight and got an upgrade on the room I booked for my girls and me, from 2 double bed to a king with a dining room area. This is my new go to hotel in Mobile.
*I wish the bedding were less like hospital sheets and more luxurious. That’s my only complaint. Still coming back though.
