Lovely, authentic mill in the perfect location for exploring the Loire Valley.
On arrival at Moulin des Fleuriaux we were delighted with the beauty of its setting. Once inside we found everything we needed, it is well equipped and we very much enjoyed returning there after days visiting Chateaux and places of interest nearby. The weather was mixed during our 10 day stay but we were able to enjoy the outside space on fine evenings and sit around the splendid wood burner inside when it was chilly. Communication with the owner was excellent before and during our stay. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Sewage from the property discharges directly to the River Indre
This is a lovely characterful property in an idyllic and tranquil setting. Overall the property is very well appointed. However, we were concerned and upset to observe that the raw sewage from the property discharged directly to the River Indre. Pollution of rivers is a global environmental problem, and it was disappointing to see this apparent disregard for the environment. It was also concerning that guests are not informed about this issue in the guidance notes for the property. We abandoned any thoughts of swimming once we became aware.

A piece of heaven
This is our second stay at the Mill. We keep coming back to Monts just to stay here. Our little ones (4 and 6) love playing in the creek and under the willows, letting their imagination run wild. My husband and in-laws took out the kayaks. There are life vests of all sizes, even for the littles. My husband, kids, and I slept on the top floor. My inlaws (in their 70s) stayed on the second floor. Everyone was able to navigate the stairs easily. There were plenty of supplies in the kitchen and we were able to eat in each night, including grilling three nights. There is a grocery store in town and a Carrfour a short drive away. There is also a great bakery. The famous Chateaux are within easy driving distance. We really love this place as an escape from the busy world and the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the French countryside.

Mill on river
Lovely house in a wonderful location. Lots of grounds and use of the river was great fun. Rooms comfortable and had everything we need. The age of the property showed in the plumbing (eg when flushing toilet, water came out of the kitchen plug hole) Communication from host received information for check-in in good time (instructions were really clear) and was prompt to respond to queries. Would have been nice to have had a check that we had arrived / got in / everything fine. Overall, really recommend

Amazing water mill
What an absolutely amazing property, even better than the photos you are literally in the middle of the river. My family really enjoyed using the kayak, fishing rods and sitting by the water. The house is perfectly decorated and furnished. Only 2 small improvements that would be great, more pillows and fans for the top floor bedrooms as they got very hot.

Moulin aux fleuriaux
An absolutely delightful setting, in the River Indre (literally). With sunny weather, the deck is a great place to sit and relax. A wealth of first rate chateaux within easy reach, plus the Montlouis and Vouvray appelations (try Chidaine at Montlouis). With kind weather, this is an ideal gite, very highly recommended.

Beautiful setting
Despite some mixed weather, we had a lovely week by the river. Lots of wildlife, even caught a glimpse of a red squirrel. The house is well equipped, with a cosy log burner for chilly evenings. Lots to see within an easy drive. There are plenty of guidebooks and maps available in the property for use of guests. This was our second visit and it is perfect for a relaxing stay.

A most relaxing stay by the river. A wonderful property, well equipped and the most beautiful location. Near to supermarket and bakery but far enough to feel isolated in a nice way. We didn’t go anywhere the whole week, choosing to enjoy the peaceful nature of this wonderful mill. We saw kingfisher’s many times a day, deer red squirrels and lots of fish. We will definitely return.

Truly remarkable
Upon arrival we were on awe. Incredibly beautiful setting. The old restored mill is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We spent hours outside on the terrace and boating in the Indre river. Very quiet, perfect spot to retreat to after visitng neighbouring chateaux or villages. Monts is within walking distance. Our 3 teenage kids also loved this home. Hosts were easily accessible and very quick to respond to any questions. This would be a most incredible place to paint or write We would love to return for a longer stay 5 nights were not enough. Only suggestion would be is be prepared with eruos (cash) for payment of electricity at the end of your stay.

Special, memorable and idyllic
We figured that if the Mill House was half as nice as it looked, in photos, we would be happy. Well, it actually exceeded our expectations. The house was spacious, the kitchen was well equipped, the setting was truly spectacular. The town has a wonderful weekly market and an excellent supermarket (that houses a hair salon, a cleaners and clothing! )The Mill House was an excellent base from which to visit chateaux within less than an hour's drive. The only teeny issue was that the house was cold, even when the outside temps were 70. A roaring fire in the fireplace helped alleviate the chill. We highly recommend this place.

A magical place
The setting was beautiful, with nature all around us. Saw kingfishers every day. We were lucky with the weather and spent most evenings sitting outside enjoying the bats, owls and stars. There is a huge choice of places of interest to see and do in the local area if the weather is cool or wet, and there is a large supermarket about 10 mins away. A wonderful, relaxing time and we hope to return one day.

My wife and I spent a week at the property and had a great holiday. We mostly spent every evening sitting out on the patio area just soaking in the beauty of the surroundings.

Everything we were looking for!
This little mill is a gem - comfortable, practical, well-equipped and in addition, paradise for a fisherman! Lovely views of water in all directions, yet intimate and private without being remote. Charming owner who is willingly helpful, and who has obviously applied great thought and personal talent in renovating, decorating and equipping the property so thoughtfully. As a couple without too much mobility and needing a peaceful place to spend a week in autumn, it couldn't have been more perfect for us, and the hyper-efficient wood burner (which also filters heat through a vent in the bedroom) added to the cosiness during rather mixed weather. The surrounding woods and water to explore would be appealing to anyone, in any season. Thank you, Anne and Xavier, for restoring it and making it available to others!

Heaven for families
With three young children it’s difficult to find locations that both work for them and us as parents. Our stay at the Mill ticked every box. We were fortunate with the weather and spent the week outside, building dens, fishing, swimming in the river, playing on the beach (yes it has its own beach!!!), canoeing down the Indre, spotting Otters and Kingfishers, building campfires.....This property either has it or is close to it all! To cap it all off the house is extremely comfortable and has everything you could need for a fantastic stay. Oh and it’s unique in its setting (see the pic’s) and utterly beautiful. We miss it already and will be back.

Beautiful Gite in totally relaxing situation
From the minute we arrived everything was perfect. The kitchen/dining room area is large and really well equipped with everything that you need. The beds were all really comfortable and rooms spacious. The bathrooms are both well appointed with plenty of hot water. There is also a sitting room on the first floor that overlooks the river. The outdoor space is well equipped with tables and chairs and garden furniture, we ate outside for every meal. The gardens surrounding the Gite are lovely to walk in and have an abundance of wildlife. And then there is the river, this was the best thing about the Gite. There was a kayak and rowing boat that we used every day. You can also fish and it is very easy to buy a license from the florist in Montes. All in all it was the most beautiful Gite in an amazing situation
