Karuizawa is a great neighbourhood to hit the hay if you don't mind travelling 18 kilometres to find central Naganohara. It has 21 available hotels, such as the Kyu Karuizawa Hotel and Karuizawa Prince Hotel West.
Want more options? The Jinpyokaku is situated 30 kilometres away from the downtown area, and the Shima Onsen Kashiwaya Ryokan is 25 kilometres away. If those choices don't jump out at you, you may prefer the Shiga Park Hotel or the Kusatsu Now Resort Hotel.
Don't shoot through before you've checked out the Shiriyaki Onsen and Akaiwa Community Center in Kusatsu. It's home to some awesome attractions, like Akechidaira Plateau, Kegon Waterfall and Kanmangafuchi Abyss. Iemitsu Mausoleum and Lake Chuzenji are a few more which are sure to offer up some photo ops.
