All I can say is thank goodness we were only on the 5th Floor because we had to take the stairs ALOT due to only one working elevator that is used for guests and staff. The front desk and workers were great but the elevator situation was beyond frustrating.

The hotel rooms are small, but typical of New York City. The staff was friendly and accommodating. However, the hotel has only 2 elevators and it's a 27 floor building. The two elevators are used by the staff as well as guests. During our stay, one elevator was out the entire time. The other elevator was often overloaded and had long waits or was also out of order. We ended up walking up and down 18 stories several times. If you are not able to do LOTS of stairs, do not stay at this hotel.

Go with another hotel but amazing view
I recently stayed at a hotel in New York, and while there were some redeeming qualities, overall my experience was quite disappointing. ## Location The location of the hotel was excellent. It was conveniently situated near various attractions, making it easy to explore the city. ## Cleanliness The rooms were clean and well-maintained, which is always a plus when traveling. ## Lifts However, the issues with the lifts significantly impacted our stay. The hotel only had two lifts, and unfortunately, one was out of service for the entire stay (5 days). The second lift also stopped working on our first day, forcing us to climb 19 floors multiple times. For anyone with accessibility needs, I would strongly advise against staying here. ## Staff The staff was decent but did not meet the standard I expected, especially compared to other hotels like Doubletree. Their service felt lackluster and unremarkable. ## Overall Impression The only highlights of our stay were the stunning view from our room and the prime location. Unfortunately, these positives weren't enough to outweigh the inconveniences we faced. If I were to return to New York, I would not choose this hotel again, nor would I recommend it to others.

During our stay onky one elevator was working and for over 24 hours, both elevators were not working. Completely insane. My husband and I were in town for his follow up dr appointments with Memorial Sloan Kettering after his surgery following his 3rd cancer battle. Simply assuming everyone can physically hike up stairs to their hotel room is unacceptable. The following day they gave us free water for the inconvenience. The girl at the desk didn't even look at us when asked what was going on. Definitely won't stay again when we come back in 3 months.

There were only (2) elevators and one of them was broken the entire time. Some of the days, both elevators were down and we had to go up and down (22) flights of stairs and it seemed that the staff didn’t care. They didn’t offer help with luggage and they were certainly not happy. One staff walked out and quit calling a customer a B word while we were waiting over (20) mins for the one elevator in the lobby. The room had an old fashioned air con and it made the room smell like mildew and mold. The bathroom was clean, that’s about the only positive I can say about our stay. We will never stay at a Double tree again because of the lack of care they showed their guests. Things happen, I understand that but show some compassion and kindness especially in the hospitality industry.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! The elevators don’t work. They haven’t worked for months!! The hotel staff is amazing, but what can they do. The elderly are stuck with luggage not being able to go up or down. We were on the 15th floor and had to go up and down by foot!! Every time!! One time a man got stuck for an hour in the elevator. Very very bad situation. This is unacceptable. I read older reviews and the problem wasn’t new. FIX THE DAMN ELEVATORS HILTON!!!!!!!!!

Ok first time travelling to New York with kids from the UK and somethings definitely worried me. The elevators and stairs where not secure meaning anyone off the street can walk in and use them. I work in a hotel and our elevators etc and all doors near reception are only accessible via a guest or worker key card. This hotel doesn't have that. Anyone can use the elevators which was rather worrying. Considering there is plenty homeless and mental health issues from people literally outside the hotel, a few steps up the street we saw people drugged up and rough sleeping. Even in the hotel courtyard where guests can sit, early in the morning we had some people from the street just casually sit. I think security definitely needs updated. I do feel the price was too much considering the area is run down somewhat and room was basic and non secure entrances. Other than that, the hotel was great. Coffee machine and fridge where not in use in our room (considering the price I paid. Fresh coffee was available at reception. The housekeeping was amazing, room was fresh and clean every time we can back with fresh cold bottled water. So that was fantastic, housekeeping team deserve a lot of praise. I did have an emergency on my first day where I had to call back to the UK but my mobile hadn't connected to the American network, I asked reception if I could make an international call back to the UK and it was a NO! Absolutely no help whatsoever. Other than that, good for sight seeing
