Great hotel, lots to do, swimming, tennis, table tennis, mini golf, frisbee golf. Then further afield, Locomotion and Kynren...a most amazing show. Will definitely return.

Nice relaxing hotel/spa
A lovely old hotel with a great Gym. Some parts are a little tired such as the Spa but I believe renovations are due shorty. The food is ok. Not the best I've had compared to equivalent hotels.

Good Value For Money
Really nice hotel, me and my partner stayed here as we were visiting the Railway Museum which was really close. We had a great stay, I loved the pillows on the bed, so comfy, had a great nights sleep and spent the evening in the bar, staff were friendly and helpful! Breakfast was good and we had dinner in the restaurant, meal was lovely. Would definitely stay here again.

Enjoyable stay, shame about the pool area
Family break with tweens. Family rooms a good size though layout a little strange. Pool area was sadly dirty, grout around pool filthy and staff were brushing water off this area back into the pool. Lots of bits in the pool as a result so took the shine off an otherwise lovely couple of days! Outdoor seating and space at the front of the hotel was perfect for the evening.

We attended a family wedding which was just wonderful. The only thing that I would say that was disappointing was how very tired and outdated the room was that we stayed in overnight. Bathroom, paintwork was in need of modernisation.

A beautiful place with fantastic staff excellent breakfast and restaurant for evening meals,only downside was the charge to hire a robe for the spa , most hotels of this calibre would normally have them in the room , but that aside a very enjoyable stay

Arrived 20 minutes before check in time , was sent away without even checking if the room was ready. Bedroom decor good and has been updated , bathroom , corridors and public areas very dated. Asked for something from another menu on room service , flat no without even checking. 7.5 tray charge, daylight robbery , 4,5 for frozen chips So all in all , expectation downtown abbey ish,and a peak price point, reality average motel stay, mediocre at best. Leisure facilities and spa were very good and would go for a day spa but not stay over.

Paid for a so called better room, to find it next to the function room with a DJ blasting and guests partying outside our window. Definitely should be made aware of this on booking. Toilet flush broken.

We stayed over at this hotel for two nights. Here’s my experience from the start. We had a warm welcome at reception and the reception staff were helpful. The room was beautiful and very large, very spacious for the three of us. When we went to the bathroom we realised the hand soap was empty and had not been replaced. Which we had to ask for. The shower gel was also pretty empty and ran out. There was also three hairs in the bathtub which we did not bother to mention as we managed to clean away-but unacceptable. When we got to the pool we noticed that there were also non guest ie members of the club which means that for guests you had a few hours in the morning and between 2-6pm in the afternoon. This was not right and I feel this should have been mentioned on the website - because if you have planned a day out you cannot use the facilities. (The pool was open till 9pm) and no children allowed after 6 - but this was advertised as a family hotel. Most concerning was the staff at breakfast. On our first morning we went down for 9am (service stops at 10am). We were told to sit in a separate part of the restaurant, quite hidden and away from the breakfast buffet. We had a child and the space was not convenient, especially when there was a perfect spot closer to the buffet. When we asked to sit closer the lady (short blonde hair) did not seem too happy about it but let us close, the next day she made it look like she was busy and let us wait till another staff came and helped.
