On Sept. 7th, I booked at the Floridian hotel for Sept.14-15 through Expedia. I guaranteed the room with my credit card, like I always do. The day of my arrival (Sept. 14th), my flight was delayed, so I called the hotel to inform that I will be arriving late. The person who took the call said he has my reservation, and that he was going to make a note to front desk regarding my late arrival. When I arrived to the hotel a little after midnight, the person in front desk told me that he was sorry, but they are sold out and he cannot give me any room for the night. I told him that I guaranteed the reservation with my credit card, but he said that there is nothing he can do.
I tried to book in another hotel, but since it was after midnight, I could not do it with Expedia.
I ended up staying up all night, waiting to attend the convention I had the next day.
This is the first time I make a reservation and confirm with my credit card, but when I arrive, I don't get the room.
I was notified by Expedia that I will get the guarantee back in my credit card because I was never given the room, but I was not a happy camper the next day, with no sleep the night before. Can the hotel overbook the rooms and keep us without a room in spite of the fact that we garenteed the room with our credit card? What compensation can I get for that terrible experience? Thank you.
